Bought a 2010 with 103k. Don't know if fluid was every changed. Would you drop the pan change the filter and refill? Fluid is in good shape from what I can tell.

I've bought a few used trucks I would change all the fluids, even flush brake and coolant with that many years and miles.

Coolant and diff I'm not worried about changing. More worried about the trans messing up after I do it

That many miles, you're right at the service time for them. I'd do it now for peace of mind. I would replace ALL fluids too. You're not going to spend that much more to do the coolant and diff fluids. New thermostat is cheap insurance as well.

^^^ That. I bought my truck with 363k miles last year and I have changed almost all the fluids. I have only done the pan drain and refill on the trans (I have the drain plug in the pan), but here soon I will be doing the pan drop, filter change.

Sahls - by not worried about it I meant that I'm not scared that changing those will hurt anything. Don't want to put a trans in because the fluid was never changed and then I change it and it fails

I hear ya. I would recommend a drain and fill on the trans. Do you have a drain plug? If so, just drain until it's empty and fill it back up til it's full.

 

I just did this on my Traverse. I drained and filled, drove about 500 miles and did it again. That significantly helped, it shifts smoother than ever now!

I don't think there's a drain plug. It's a 2010 6l80e
