And Chevy has a knob that lights up to tell you what it is in. Do you really need it to say it on the dash?

Can you even read that knob? Is it better than what was in the GMT-900s? All you had on the GMT-900s was a little pencil tip sized light in the knob that no one can see. Unless you have the work truck package with the floor transfer case shifter (which I much prefer) in which case you have a 4x4 light in the cluster.

Ya they're overpriced for what you get. You have to get a top trim level to get basic features that you can get on a mid trim level GM or Dodge. I worked at a dealer that sold all new domestic other than GMC and Buick. There was 1 guy that bought a Platinum F-250 Powerstroke for just $3K less than someone who bought a Chevy 3500 Dually High Country Duramax. Both were Crew Cab and virtually the same give or take. I have nothing against Ford in general, I just don't like how hard they're trying to push the EcoBoost on people in everything. It shouldn't take long before you won't even be able to get a Ford truck or car (even the Mustang) with a V8. Since I'm talking about comparisons, the only bad thing about Dodge Rams is that they still look pretty much the same for over 20 years. All they did was adjust the styling without completely changing it. Not sure if their transmissions are still crappy.

No matter which truck you choose, who can even afford them anymore. I have been looking as my truck is coming off lease, in the end I decided to keep my 14. It pisses me off that GM won't let you get the 6.2 without going to a LTZ. All these packages and crap are annoying. Makes no sense that a work truck or a LT can't get the 6.2, I mean those two trim levels are what need the big motor the most!!!!

I like my 14 but I admit that's the swapping from 8-4-8 scares me long term, also I noticed I can feel it switching, which scares me even more

Ya been driving it a full month now, love it, 16 mpg no afm to deal with, mileage, ride is the same, everything else is a win for the Ford, except overall look of it, still like the GMC better, I'll have to post a pic if it later,

Anyone want a SLE all terrain??

16 MPG, that's it? And your happy with that?

The 5.0 is a gutless wonder compared to the new gm 5.3's. While Ford does have a nicer interior, their engine bays are a complex rats nest, their electrical systems are completely over complicated, way more harnesses, relay's and solenoids on an F150 than a comparable GM half ton. Ford stuffed that engine so far back in the engine bay, I wouldn't even want to try and change spark plugs on it. Half of the engine bay area is being used by the cooling system and poor placement of components.

GM lacks in luxury interior options, such as the full glass sunroof the ford has now, but they are far more reliable trucks, that are far easier to service. Give me AFM and a GM small block over any ford engine, any day of the week.

16mpg is about nuts on with my sierra, good mix of bcity/highway, and some remote start time, I don't know about working on this thing never even opened the hood actually, lol I do know that ford had a spark plug issue for a while,

Well for the last week i have been driving a 2014 F150 loaded up truck, 5.0 motor,

I am sorry, the headlights are great, the radio works great with no hd drop outs, the transmission is silky smooth, I really like the floor console with shifter, I mean Really Really like it, the heated seats take about 1 minute to warm up, remote start or cold start, the cab is definitely way more roomy, I mean I'm sorry i really like it, its a fully loaded FX4, the cooper tires are great in the snow as well, I think the fuel mileage is slightly better, the exhaust is quiet when driving but if get on it its just loud enough as well,

All I can say is its a good thing Ford really uglied up the 15 body, or I may consider a switch, I really wish it was summer so I cold strap my 10000 pd boat to it so i can compare towing,

The bad, well I pulled out of driveway the other day in the poring rain and water poured in the cab, ah well even ford has issues LMAO

with that said my 14 Is still 10x better looking, but my truck just spent 3 days at the dealer for the "latest and greatest" update and the radio is worse, and now the bluetooth is totally worthless, I have another week of driving this Ford so :o)

The comparison you make isn't close to being apples to apples. You say you have an "LS" GM truck, that's the basic model and compare it to a loaded F150 FX4. That would be like comparing a loaded LT GM truck to the basic F150 XL. A comparison between trucks is fine, just do it with similar trim levels.

the only thing not even is leather/cloth, to me FX4=All Terrain

Well I started out with an 86 Chevy C10 Custom Deluxe, then went to a 98 Z71 and not my '14 Z71. When it comes to daily driving, my truck is great. It's a pretty well optioned LT. It has what I want and doesn't have what I don't want like leather heated and cooled seats and the parking sensors in the bumpers. I don't care for that stuff. But, I did learn the hard way to not have a truck that's both your daily driver and only transportation and a play truck. So I'll take my '14 as a daily driver and for work, but for off-road (mainly mudding for me) I prefer an 87 or older Chevy. I would have kept my 86 as a play truck if it would have been 4x4. I just like having a truck that's finally dependable and what I like. My 86 was dependable but it was a POS when it came to the interior and the fact it didn't even have factory A/C other than the vent windows. Just picture that truck you posted, but just 2wd and midnight blue and that was basically my 86. I did love that it was a manual though. The 98 was dependable for a little while and from how I treated it, it just hadn't been dependable for awhile and got fed up so got a new truck. I was actually just looking for a used truck that was a lot newer (like around 07-10) but ended up getting a brand new one lol. I'm also not the type to get something different every few years. I had my 98 ever since Feb '04 and got my '14 in April of '14 so just a tad over 10 years. I plan on keeping this '14 as long as I can keep it on the road.

    • 2024 l8t . Ac has never felt really cold even new. But lately it seems a little warmer. When it gets in the upper 80s and a little more humid it just does not keep up. And sometimes at idle it gets warm. My wife's 2008 envoy is better. My son's 2016 is colder. I have an apointment for a third try Monday the 29th at a third dealer to try and get cold ac before my warranty is out. The first two told me something about so many degrees under ambient temp blah blah blah seemed like they didn't want to mess with me. This was set at low. Max air fan speed high. 87 degrees and a little humid.   .
    • It isn’t all that bad in the world with purchasing power versus quality. My first car had just basic equipment. My oil choice was conventional oil. The life expectancy was around 100K miles. During that time you could expect to change all the accessories. Today with inflation you can buy the equivalent. It comes fully loaded with 4 doors. The life expectancy passes 100K miles replacing no accessories. If reaching that milestone is your goal you simply follow the recommended service intervals. If you want more miles simply do more maintenance. When in doubt you can check the internet or YouTube for information. The selling of any product hasn’t changed since the beginning of time. The power of the buyer has. The price of the product hasn’t changed much with inflation. The buying public wants more. Competition and the buying public has put the sellers in a box. The greed is on both sides. You can still get more for less. You just have to do with less. That used to be popular. The buying public has changed . It’s the sellers that are trying to keep up. As Grumpy tries to inform the readers in this case with maintenance. If you want more. More effort is required. That information wasn’t available this easily just a few years ago. I believe the public has more power. Getting information is easier.
    • Gentlemen, I'm new to this forum. My question is, I thought I have read somewhere that the rear wheel liners for 2024- 2026 GMC Sierra HD3500 DRW can/will fit the 2023. I can't seem to find that information again and wondering if anybody has any knowledge if these will work or not with the 2023? Part# is 84892542. Thank you for any information. The GMC parts counter wasn't able to give my any definitive answer?
    • Spacers aren’t safe anyway, so you’re better off just buying something else.
    • Its because they have thread locking compound on them. I would bet money that they are actually reusable and not a literal TTY bolt because GM and most other OEMs don't trust techs and the end-user to apply thread locker properly in the same way they don't trust anyone to solder properly (and instead instructing crimps everywhere). Torque To Angle =/ Torque To Yield.   If you think dealerships or any technician replaces every 'discard' bolt in every procedure, I have a bridge to sell you.
