Installed Gibson Exhaust. Leaking?! Wowwww

Installed the stainless Gibson side exhaust and when we put it on we could tell the pipe that butts up to the stock exhaust was going to be an issue. Yup we were right. It hardly overlaps the stock pipe and the stock clamp goes over that, but it's just not seated enough. My luck. Anyone have an issue with this? A fix?

Sorry to hear your situation, what Gibson did you buy ? I would contact the seller and have it exchanged if it does not fit properly .

Getting that factory clamp just right can be a pain. There isn't any "overlap" though. I just butts up to the stock pipe and then clamped together. Do you have any photos?

I had the same problem with the corsa that i put on my truck. Try putting some never seeze on the ball and socket connection that the factory clamp goes over

My Volant went together without a hitch.

I was worried because I tightend it up all the way and the clamp completely closed but so far so good.... Im going to get it weldded together when i put my headers on.

I literally took the whole thing apart today to try re-installing with 2 of my buddies to help. Still it is leaking. That spot just will not seal up tight. It's like the Gibson pipe isn't flared out enough. I don't know. But in my opinion bad design. The stock pipe that come off was tight on here. I had to wack it to break it loose with a hammer.

What is never seize?

That pipe needs to be flaired more. My Volant had a way more agressive flair then that.

The Gibson replacement should mimic the stock flex pipe flange. I had a Corsa and now have GM Borla cat back systems on mine and their replacements had the exact same flange. It was easy to mate them, not like yours. Gibson should fi this for you..

My MBRP wasn't much different than that. It did seal up fine... but looked just like that. I installed mine in pieces, starting from the cat back. With no weight on it it clamped up perfectly. Is your Gibson exhaust 1 piece like the GM exhaust or is it multiple pieces?

Yea that piece is not flared enough. My Corsa was way more than that. And then the spherical clamp should hold it all together.

Got an email back from Gibson. Guy said its "normal for this to leak". I find that to be BS. Called him he said to go buy exhaust paste and seal it up. Wowwwww. What a joke. Gonna snap. Called again to speak with someone else just waiting for a call back.
