2014 Tow Mirror Question

I was shopping for some tow mirrors to swap on my truck, I'm going to need to run the new door harnesses to get the signals to work however I looked at a set of aftermarket mirrors on ebay that have what looks like running lights on the outside of the mirror housing, does anyone know or has anyone tried these and can tell me if those running lights will work once I swap the harnesses over.

You need another harness in addition to the door harnesses to make the lighting work on 2014 trucks, whether you go OEM mirror kit or a pair of aftermarkets. The other harness (GM calls it a jumper harness) completes the truck side circuits for the signals, amber running lights and cargo lights. 2014 trucks weren't wired for any of those three things to the door jamb truck side body harness unless you had the towing mirrors, in which case you would have the signal circuit set up, or if you had DL3 mirrors, in which you would have signal and puddle circuits in place.

I think I gotcha, I've read the damn bulletin and that damn thread a few times, it's still confusing. So signals would obviously require both door harnesses however the running/cargo/puddle lights are an additional harness on top of that??

No. If you don't have any signals in your mirrors now, you will need that jumper harness as well.

I just got this swap done- On the GM "replacement" (not accessory) tow mirrors- when you unlock the truck, are the trailer mirror backup/ cargo lights supposed to light up like the puddles on the DL3s? i forgot- i did look at a truck when we bought ours about a month, but i cant remember if they lit up when the dealer unlocked it- On my truck, its a 2016, the running lights light up and stay on, and the blinkers flash when unlocking, in addition to the other lights. Thanks in advance.

I don't think they do. The cargos only come on when enabled, and in park, reverse and drive. Or if the truck is off, when the switch is pressed. The ambers, I am not sure... I will play with mine tonight and let you know.
