I have a DOD dash camera from Amazon it was around $200.00. I love mine it is on all the time but I just hit the record button on it when I start the truck and then turn it oof recording when I shut the truck down, I ran a GoPro for a while but it did not like the sun on it in the summer time. So far so good with this one.

I leave the cam running even with the truck off.
Especially in mall parking lots...

I also run dash cams in my Silverado, Trailblazer and Corvette. You can't beat visual proof! Since they can be bought for $50, it's a no brainer.

Make sure your rear axle tube isn't tweaked. I got hit by a drunk driver in a parking lot many years ago right on the rear tire of my Jeep, no obvious damage at the time but after a while I realized he bent the axle tube slightly and ended up destroying my ring and pinion.
