I have been currently looking into 2016 chevy. Is the painted grille an option or a certain package?

I believe all the Z71's have them.

I too have only seen Z71's with a factory painted grille. I actually had black vinyl added to cover the chrome grille on my non Z71 2016 Silverado. I had black vinyl on the headlight trim too but it was too much contrast in my opinion. I'll keep this on for a while since it's kind of growing on me a bit. I chose vinyl because it was a fraction on the price ($120) to have the grille painted and is removable if I didn't like it. Good luck on the search and hope the pic helps!

The 2016 Z71 comes with a "grille and lower bumper appearance" design package. Since mine has it I assume it means color coded bumper and grille center rail.

I was talking to the dealer about this.

 

The only way to get painted front end is with Z71, that includes bumpers, headlight trim and grill.

 

LT trucks have chrome grill with black vents, LTZ has chrome with chrome vents, high country is chrome/chrome with painted bumper, there also appears to be like a 2lz package with painted grill and chrome vents.

 

I like z71 2lz look or the LTZ chromeout look the best. I've had an LTZ loaner for like a month now (long story....) and its starting to grow on me.
