6.2L Off Constraint

Recommended Posts

I just spoke to my dealer after checking with GM chat since my order has been at 1100 since April 14. The inventory manager said nothing about the constraint and that he did have allocation for the 6.2 but couldn't explain why it wasn't picked up for the past 3+ weeks. He did say though that it should be picked up this Thursday so hopefully he is correct but I'm not holding my breathe...

Good news. Finally. Its been accepted by Production Control and has a TPW of 5/23. Hope they stay on schedule.

TPW 05/23/2016 is the exact time frame I am being told for my replacement 2016 Silverado that has been on order since 02/24/2016. How to you go about finding the different "codes" as far the build goes from start to finish?

I just spoke with gm and was told that my truck is still at 1100. The only thing holding it back is the 6.2. They said the 6.2 is back on constraint.

Congrats Outburst! Appears that your dealer had the allocation and the stars aligned to move you through the order process. I just checked with chat and I'm still at 1100. My dealer said that my order should get picked up Thursday but I think that was BS just to get me off the phone. At this point if I want a 2016 I'm just going to have to wait it out with this order until they tell me that GM isn't building anymore 2016's...

This is accurate and was given to me when I first ordered. Hope it helps others.

DOSP - Dealer Order Submission Process

The weekly process consists of 4 stages.

1. Constraints Distribution - Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders. (A Constraint is a limit placed on specific build configurations.)

2. Dealer Order Submission - Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don't know the constraints.)

3. The 4-Pass Process - GM will attempt to place each dealer’s orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than was allocated, if they asked.)

4. Dealer Review - You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That's when the orders are sent to production control.

Note - Orders will not move unless dealer has allocation.

Crossed paths with a higher up with GM today and he explained that they only produced 6 6.2 trucks last week... I asked all about it and he was very cryptic with his answers and I'm sure has to be tight lipped but did say the issue is not with the engine itself.

My best guess is that it has to do with CAFE numbers, but could be wrong. Either way a lot of us are stuck waiting....

The best way to break in the engine is to turn off AFM and drive it like you stole it.

How do you turn the AFM off? Thanks

I'm on week 5. Still at 1100. Dealer did say that GM has extended the 2016 builds through September.

* Target Production Week (TPW) is usually available by status code 3300.

this is where I am now at with my 2016. looks like it will be a solid 4 months from the date that it was ordered. I am assuming that it is close to shipping since that it does have a vin number and chat.chevrolet.com can provide no further information. 16 weeks for a engine that advertised in every 1500 Silverado commercial on tv. makes no sense.
