6.2L Off Constraint

yes sir. the crew cabs start their journey from Mexico by water up the pacific coast to the port of Aberdeen Washington (4 hours southeast of Seattle). my truck was on a container that was inspected by customs agents. that added a couple of days to the transit time. I now know why I do not see the "as American as apple pie" commercials anymore as my American truck had to be inspected by customs to enter the USA. I am being told that this time frame for shipping was quick, but it did take 18 weeks from the trucks order date to get here.

Now why in the hell would they boat them up the coast? I thought that's what the trains were for. I would think trains would be cheaper too.

Then again, I'd bet money I'm missing part of the picture.

All the different answer make me think noone actually knows how they are shipped. I called GM to see she my truck was and they told me it was on a rail car from Mexico to Baltimore MD.

My truck was shipped and went to code 4200!

According to the GM customer service number I had to call since my dealer is slacking, my truck shipped June 29th. On a rail car headed for Baltimore MD. I'm in Virginia. Where are you at?

Does anyone know if GMs current 20% off msrp applies to ordered vehicles? I'm hoping I can get it applied to mine. My truck just hit to Baltimore MD distribution center. Should be at the dealer any day this week!!

I can't imagine from Silao Mexico to Texas could take more than a week. I imagine customs inspection at the border is what would take the most time.

I spoke with my dealer earlier. He said that even though it's being built in Mexico it still usually takes 2 weeks to get to Houston. He also said that even though my TPW is 7-18 I probably won't see it till the middle of August. He thinks that because it's a 17 GM might hold off shipping until a large number of 17s are produced. Then he said I may just get lucky and they ship it as soon as it's produced.

Nope... It is on a train in Buffalo, NY right now and is going to be offloaded in NJ on Thursday. After that it needs to be trucked to CT. I'm leaving for another couple weeks with the Army this weekend so I don't think I'll be able to take delivery before I leave. Damnit.

They might.

On the flip side of the coin, they may ship it now. The 16s came out late summer of 15, and is a 9/15 truck, one that hit the lot around haloween based on what the dealer told me. This was WELL after the 16s came out.

Hopefully they surprise you and you get a call soon

That's crazy. Mine went straight to Baltimore then trucked to Norfolk Virginia. Sorry to hear about you not getting delivery soon. I used to be stationed in CT but now I'm stationed in Norfolk. Taking delivery tomorrow. Hopefully it's what I ordered!!

You're telling me - I've been waiting since April! I pre-traded my Avalanche so I've been driving my 1997 Jeep Cherokee XJ! I'm 6'2" so the XJ is getting old real quick! It is excellent and fun to drive every now and then for bad weather (used mostly for my wife when it snows) but damn man!

Navy, I take it?

Has your dealer sent you the invoice? That will show exactly how it was built...
