6.2L Off Constraint

Great news.... Well sorta. Truck showed up at the dealer today. But it wasn't what I had ordered. I had ordered the LTZ model from the dealer, but the dealer put the order in with Chevrolet as an LTZ Z71. UUGHH!! Im not a big fan of the painted bumpers. And I didn't really want the Z71 suspension. But it has everything else I ordered. The salesman admits that the sales manager ordered the wrong one. So..... Since Ive been waiting 4 mos from order date and that they ordered the wrong model, I told the salesman that I would take it if they cut me a really good deal. So he's working the deal out now with the sales manager and Im scheduled to get it Monday morning if they work it out. For some reason, I had a bad feeling for the past few months that they might have ordered the the wrong model. And SHAZAM. Guess I should have listened to my gut feeling and double checked what they had ordered. Oh well.

So I knew that the 6.2L was going to be a hold up on production. But what I and the dealer didn't know was the Synthesis Silver Trim was also a hold up for production. It seems Chevrolet deleted the trim kit option and didn't bother conveying that information to the dealer (so it could be deleted from the order). So every time my order came round, production rejected it because of the combination of the 6.2L and the trim kit. You would think that Chevrolet could actually talk to their dealers when theres a problem and iron it out so that sold or customer ordered vehicles could be produced in a timely fashion.

Anyway..Im happy that something came in and hopefully Ill post Monday that Im a new owner.

That's crappy. Even though I've got my truck got delivered awhile ago, I've been following along with your progress in getting yours.

The dealer might want to blame GM but the information is provided weekly, the dealer just failed to take note of it and rather then admit that, they blame it on Chevrolet.

Ok...More bad news on my finished truck. Not only did the sales manager order the wrong model but he also ordered the wrong color interior. Instead of jet black, he ordered jet black with ash (gray) colored seats. So.. talking to my salesman, instead of ordering a completely new truck (the one I want and it possibly taking another 4 more mos) hes going to see if he cant talk the sales manager into getting the seats (front and rear and associated panels in the doors) re-covered in jet black leather and have the dealership eat the entire cost of the re-cover. My salesman feels real bad about the screw up and wants to make it right. Just have to see how willing the manager will be.

Will update as it hits me.

The last update. Went to the dealer this morning to look at the interior one more time. I just couldn't wrap my head around the gray. Salesman and I talked about the re-covering and I just decided that it would be too expensive to do (not cost effective for the dealer).

I decided not to take the vehicle and start the clock once again and re-order the one I want. Going in Monday to talk with my salesman and the sales manager, to get an idea of the wait time (again) and ensure they order the correct one this time. Hopefully they will be able to do it for the 16 model year.

So..... Customer service, if you're watching. Ill be contacting you in the next few weeks for order status updates. Talk to you then.

I'm pretty sure you're not going to get a 16. I was told last week that my 2016 6.2 was not getting built. I ordered it on April 25th. So my dealer changed the order to a 17 and it's already at 3000 with a TPW 7/25/16. Dealer did some research and apparently double cabs/single cab 16s will be built through September. Crew cab 17s are going to start being built in July.

well, well, well......this explains why no dealership will help me place the order I want for a 6.2 crew cab 4x4.........Man, so if i do find someone that can place the order or me, when could I look to take delivery? 2017?

Just find a dealer that will order you a 17. The longer it takes to place the order, the longer you'll wait for delivery. Hopefully mine will be here by the end of July or early August.

Well I think you'll be glad to wait (again) for the truck you really want. On the plus side, the 6.2 kicks ass.

This is the last update to the last update. I promise. (If something else comes up, Ill start a new thread). Sat down and spoke with the salesman this morning. Well... the 16 will no longer happen. Instead, they are going to order it as a sold 17 model. The dealer doesn't have the pricing or all the specs yet for the 17's, but a call to the area rep with an explanation of what happened with my order should get them something, and with some hope get the production ball rolling sooner (Sep) than later (???).

Besides, having a 17 built in late 2016, will be better than having a 16 built in late 2016. At least thats how my screwed thinking processes it.

Ciao for now.
