6.2L Off Constraint

According to ARIfleet, as of 4/13 the 6.2L is no longer a constraint for Silverado/Sierra.

I don't think that site is well kept, I ordered my Sierra Denali 6.2L on Feb 29 (crazy leap year day) took delivery 4/1, so 4 weeks. Good luck you'll love it, oh break the engine in correctly if you ordered one (not the GM way).

The ARI site is kept better than Donlen. Up until the end of March, Donlens last update for Chevy was in Oct 2015. The ARI site is updated several times a week. It has the date above the year/model you're viewing.

It might be just on constraint if he had to order it under inventory. If it's ordered as sold you'll get it on a regular schedule of 6-8 weeks...or you should at least. Mine was ordered the 29th of Feb. They accidently ordered it under inventory, and my build date was for the end of June! By the time the mistake was noticed it was 2 weeks ago. My build date now is the end of May which still sucks but it better than before.

IDK what's going on but I ordered my 2016 crew cab silverado standard bed the 15th of Feb and the dealer is STILL saying it hasn't been picked up for build. it's been 8 weeks! any idea whats going on? Maybe the dealer is playing me?

Also, what is the proper way to break in the 6.2L V8? I just thought it was easy around town driving of 3,000 miles.

There is no break in, drive the truck as you want to drive it. The engines are ran to red line several times during the build process. I drive mine no different than I would normally, truck never has burnt any oil and get great gas mileage considering it is a 5500lb truck.

 

Heat cycles more than anything else are what help the cylinders wear in.

Make sure they ordered your truck as a sold unit, and not as just part of their general inventory. It can make a big difference in when it's built.

Yea the dealer told me he market it as a " sold" unit so it should be priority. He also said he marked it as a hot sale. Not sure how I can verify he's actually doing whatever t he's saying. He said the motor (6.2L) is the issue and no other parts of my build ( sunroof or platform setup) are on constraint.

I had one dealer tell me the 6.2L was on constraint and the next dealer had one in transit. Mine rolled off the truck last Wednesday.

The best way to break in the engine is to turn off AFM and drive it like you stole it.

Maybe the dealer hasn't got allocation and is hoping they get allocation before you go somewhere else.

Should I leave that order in and place an order with another dealer for the same truck build and go with whoever gets it allocated first? My first child was born yesterday and I'm almost out of time for this dealership / manufacturer games. Would calling the GM regional manager help?

Got my build date notification a couple weeks ago. Week of 4/25 build date target with delivery in 2nd week of May. 2 1/2 month order to delivery but I wanted the 6.2 so........
