6.2L Off Constraint

Should I leave that order in and place an order with another dealer for the same truck build and go with whoever gets it allocated first? My first child was born yesterday and I'm almost out of time for this dealership / manufacturer games. Would calling the GM regional manager help?

I'd call the regional manager. We ordered a truck on Feb 29th after the first truck was ordered wrong in Dec, and showed up without the right option I needed.

Well a month goes by, and I get an order number. Check it and my wait time was 20 weeks. The dealer marked it as inventory. When they changed it to sold (which they had to reorder for the 3rd time) I had a build date 2 weeks after for the end of May. They should know something unless they are bundling some sold orders together for some reason, or they are possibly lying about it being marked as sold which wouldn't make sense to do that.

Yea I think I'm just gonna leave the order in and go to another dealer and order the same truck there. See what happens and who wins. Couldn't get the district manager to answer his phone. I know the crew cabs are build in Mexico. I'm in Virginia, maybe it's a distance thing? I called the customer service line but they were completely useless. Super disappointed. I'm at the point where I'll travel across several states to get the truck I want.

So another local dealer just told me they have allocation for a 6.2L so hopefully once they put the order in, it'll get picked up quickly for production. Thanks to everyone for the help

Did you sign any papers with the dealership you have a truck ordered through? You don't want to contractually obligate yourself on two trucks.

I doubt its a distance thing. I'm a 1000 km further away from the plant than you. I ordered on March 8 and my truck was built April 13th. I suspect most of these issues you all are having is bumbling salesmen.

My dealer informed me today that the 6.2l is still on constraint. I haven't placed an order yet, but he couldn't guarantee I could get a 2016 with a 6.2l.

Yea I gotta agree with you then on the bumbling sales reps. The new dealer I'm placing a new order with says he is allocated a 6.2L and that there are NO constraints on the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado.

So I placed the same order with another dealer and I just got notified that it got picked up. Currently at event code 3000. TPW 6/13. Are the TPW days pretty accurate?

My 2016 CC 6.2L sat on 3000 with a TPW of 2/15 for 4 weeks...it was built on 2/15 and I picked it up 3/1. I'd say there pretty accurate!

Unfortunately, a week after I posted this, the 6.2L was back on constraint again and remains there still. So, here I sit, still waiting for Chevrolet to assign a production date. Apparently my build has been passed over several times by production for whatever reasons. The owner of the dealership has been in contact with GM corporate for several weeks and received an email this past week stating that they are doing everything possible to expedite the production of my vehicle ASAP. Since I placed the order with the dealer, it's been 3 months and one week. The vehicle has been accepted by Chevrolet for 3 months. Its a good thing I still have a vehicle to drive while Im waiting.

Anyways. Cheers.

At this point I think I'd cancel and wait for a 2017. Though in 6 months you may have to start this thread all over again. What a pain. I don't have my truck yet. but at least its built. Or at least I'm told its built.

Well I placed the order for my 2016 GMC Sierra 6.2l on Thursday, April 28th and a 6.2l was allocated for it this past Tuesday, May 3rd . This coming Tuesday I will receive the date of production. Seems like the GMC's are getting a lot more allocations for 6.2l's than the Chevrolets...

Towerhog, what event code is your truck at? Maybe it has an option that's no longer factory supported like a transfer case skid plate or spray in bed liner or cargo convince package. Those were on my original order but with this new one I decided I didn't need them and left them off and ordered my truck April 26th and it got picked up for build May 3rd. I'm just gonna go for an aftermarket linex bed liner since they're higher quality and cover more of the lip between the bed and tailgate.

Dont know what code it is. Just know that its been accepted with no production scheduled. As far as no-longer-produced items, the only thing I ordered in Feb that you can no longer build (Chevy build page) is the synthesis silver trim. And I cant see them holding up an entire truck build for trim pieces. If the status doesn't change tomorrow, Im going in to the dealer Wed and find out what the hold up is.
