Hey guys I traded in my 14 LTZ double cab with standard bed for a 16 HC Crew with short bed so it can fit in my garage... I am looking for a bed extender now can you guys recommend one and where you got it from? Thanks

Amp has good stuff. All 3 of my BE have been amp

By the way I thought the cc with short bed was same length as Double cab?

No the Double cab usually has a 6.5 bed also now known as the standard bed.... Short bed on the crew cabs is 5'8. Long bed is avil at 8ft

The double cab is 230 inches in length. So is the Cc with short bed. Either way amp is good products

O i see what you guys mean now... yes the truck length is the same but I wanted the crew cab but had to get a smaller bed now with the crew so i can fit in the garage.

I have the OEM GM extender, it was easy to install and is nice in that it locks into the gate latches to hold it down.

It is the same thing as the AMP HD Sport which has a semi triangular shape. I would prefer the standard AMP HD so all the tailgate is caged in.

How much drilling was needed on the OEM extender? I am interested in getting either one.

It was 4 holes in the truck for the mounting brackets and four in the extender to rivet the sections of the extender together so it can't fall apart.

Came with a template that you tape on and center punch, drill and bolt the brackets on.

Wish I would have drilled for install before I did Line-X so I could have skipped the priming of the holes I drilled in the truck. Ahh hindsight.

What about a folding bed extender rather than the typical gate design? I hate to admit it, but Ford has an ingenious design with one that folds up into both sides of the bed so that you can load the truck with the tailgate down with cargo (i.e. dirtbikes like myself) and then unfold it to wrap around whatever you've put in the bed. With these gate ones, it makes it impossible to load while the extender is connected. I'm sure Ford has a patent on it, but hoping someone out there knows of a design that fits the Silverado. Might have to just buy one of the ford ones and make it fit.
