I wanted a Blue Truck. I really liked the 16 but red was not my color. Upgrade cost was negligible (sold old truck myself for a good price and got an awesome deal on the new one at Laura over 13k off sticker)

Hmm, well, I do see an angle I might be able to work; my truck is Tungsten Metallic I believe it is. Anyway, my wife thinks the color is dull and boring. Sooo, I might just suggest a new truck with a brighter color of paint that has more flash-bang, lol! Just might work! I'm thinking that I will wait till the 2019 model is available though as GM has fallen a little behind in the goodie race with Ford.

Interesting but 141 people as of today are not completely happy with their transmission. Either sometimes hate it or always hate it.... thats really not bad considering how many they made probably in the 10000's, right??

My 8 spd has started torque converter shuttering. I am beyond disappointed in this truck. 7,500 miles on it and transmission clunks and shutters, leaf springs squeak like a late model F150, some unfindable rattle in front end, and stereo freezes. 2016 yr model All Terrain.

It was really nice before all of the aforementioned issues. Really considering trading. What sends me over the edge is the Amp steps I installed, Kicker sub, DVD headrest monitors...All things that I have to either let go at no value, or remove and try to sell.

I have made numerous trips to 2 dealers with yet a decent resolve. Software update for trans and stereo. Grease on springs. Couldn't replicate rattle...

Those addons have little to no value when doing a tradein at a dealer (they are raping you regardless) but to a private party buyer they can add value. I would get this thing cleaned up and advertise away and see what happens. What are you skeered of?

That's not how sampling works; your universe is the number of participants in the poll not the number of Silverados sold. The guy who created the poll (Jacob?) has it calculating results correctly. So, just check out his percentages and you will have your answers. But, keep in mind that even though this poll is accurate to the extent of the responses reflected it's not completely objective. But, it's interesting nonetheless. So, accept it for what it is :)

Ok, gonna correct my own error and thereby steal the satisfaction from any trolls lurking out there. The universe is the number of eight speed tranny's sold to date. The sample size is the sum of the participants. If the sample/poll is constructed objectively the results will accurately reflect the content in the universe. There, I feel better now :)

I am going to go ahead (since I made the poll) and ask. How exactly do I have any control over how anything is calculated? I made a poll, the website handles any calculations.

Ok, my bad. I assumed that you wrote the algorithm that calculates the results shown at the right of each category. My comment was meant as a compliment :)

And I could have added "141 respondents to the poll" are dissatisfied to avoid some misinterpretation. Rather than implying only 141 worldwide customers are dissatisfied.

While this poll only represents the opinions of those responding to it, I feel there is a small chance or 'skew' that some non-forum (in general) users who are dissatisfied with their transmission are more likely to search online to find other users with similar problems, find this thread and post about it rather than say, a similar non-forum user who is satisfied with his truck. It's just business as usual for him?

I would like to say I have a good relationship with my dealer. The general sales manager (who helped me get trade assistance on my truck) purchased a new Sierra Denali with the 6.2L. He said his clunks on the downshift and he knew it going into it due to all the trucks with the 6.2L and 8 speed including the Escalades, Denali Yukons etc have had complaints in their service department.

As the title states.... My 2015 GMC Sierra with the 6.2L and 8 Speed is at the dealership again with a field service engineer hoping to fix the transmission for the 5th try.

I will trade it in on another GMC Sierra.. and I want the 6.2L again. As you know, this sticks you with the 8 Speed transmission.

So.... Who has a trouble free 8 speed transmission? I have read many threads of problems, but hope to find those without problems to make the final decision: Do I get the 8 speed again in the 2016 model or do I downgrade to the 5.3L and the 6 Speed.

Please put in miles and year of your vehicle with any explanation you want in the thread.Moring

Morning, working for a dealership, I try to remain as unbiased as possible. So far this year our #1 selling vehicle is the Sierra with 6.2 and an 8-speed

transmission, sign the recall and new programming that was issued, complaints no issues.

What recall and new programming?

Is it really a recall or just a TSB ?

I have a hard time believing the number 1 selling vehicle at a dealership is the sierra 6.2 8 speed combo. I realize GMC has limited models compared with a Chevy dealer, but still struggle with your statement, In particular that it outsells the 5.3 model. Sorry to be the skeptic!

I'll tell if I like it or not after i get custom tune. So far i do not like the clunking every so often and the gear seaching it does once in a while. But I would still take it over a 6 speed.
