Ive owned my truck for a few year now and i was going to tow for the first time when i saw that someone had cut off the yruck side of the factory plug. Now i have a mess of wires. Can someone please help me??

This will be difficult to help you with. Do you know how to use a test light? Might be easier to go to U Haul.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I do know how to use a test light I guess my question was I have been told that the tail and turn may be on two separate wires? I've also been told that they each have a separate ground? Are you familiar with any of this?

There is only one ground if it is an 07 NNBS. The wires are as follows

Ground,

Constant power,

Left brake and turn lamp,

right brake and turn lamp,

Tail lamps

Electric brakes power

Backup lamps

You might be better off getting the whole original GM Pigtail (prewired)

Sorry I should have put on there that I have the classic old body style. Yeah I might have to resort to just getting that pigtail that way I can plug it into my 7 pin which I also have to buy. I really only want to put a 4 wire on there because the truck isnt powerful enough to pull anything that requires trailer brakes LOL.

Typically GM wire colours are White for ground, Brown for the tail lamp and the Yellow and green for the turns to match usual trailer wiring. Try these first with your test meter.

Yes I'm very familiar with those wires my problem is there are a couple extra in that same bundle. One's a light green and I'm not sure offhand what the other one was. That's what led to me to believe that it may have an independent turn or independent ground. I might just go to the dealer and get the pigtail that way it'll be color coded

Okay thanks. I'll take a look at it when I get a chance.
