Looks normal to me. Read in the owners manual about the 2 stage oil pump.

The 4.3L (L83), 5.3L (L86), 6.2L (LV3) engines are equipped with a two stage oil pump.

The oil pressure gauge jumping three times is caused by a test routine the engine goes through during the first few minutes of driving to insure that both stages are operable.

The oil pressure gauge going to 60 lb. over 3700 RPM, is the calibrated engine speed the oil pump goes into the high pressure stage.

This is normal operation for these engines.

Yes I have the oil and the filter "from my truck " it is still producing oil shavings and slivers and today I noticed my oil gauge holds 20psi at idle 40 from 2-3k rpm and when I hit about 3700rpm it doesn't just increase but more of a straight up jump to 60psi not a smooth type increase seems almost like a sticky gauge problem but with shavings wondering if oil pump is having some problems I have a video I will try to get on here

Too much pressure is better than not enough. I don't think the engine will blow from the oil being pumped too fast or too much other than the pump itself going out and you continue to let the engine run without oil pressure. That's how the 2 stage pump works in your video so it will last since it's working as it's designed. If a regular pump is pumping faster than it's designed then it can wear out faster than normal but that won't hurt the engine unless you let it run after the pump goes out. As long as it doesn't stay around 20-25 psi all the time you're fine.

Hi,

any news on this?  Two months ago I purchased a 2017 Suburban certified pre-own with only 17,000 miles and I have the same problem.  Now my truck has 19,000 miles.

I am going to the dealer tomorrow.

I have the same issues with my truck, and I am going to try to sue GM for it.  I had 20,000 miles on my truck with multiple oil changes, and I still found metal particles on my dipstick every time I checked the oil.  The engine got so bad the crankshaft started squeaking against the front main bearing!  The dealership replaced my crankshaft, bearings, piston rings (for some odd reason) but I am still getting metal particles 3,000 miles laster.  I took it in again and they told me that it is having issues but I have to wait for a failure.  The idle is rough, there is a lack of power, and it is shedding oil like my dog sheds fur.
