I love it when I see GM Customer Service here

....it means they are watching, which is great....although seem to be ignoring the call a better fix for the 2014 / 15 GMC Headlamp issue. Some folks here have come up with some ideas of a fix, but takes you out of warranty.....are you still reading GM ???

Dude, come on. It is only their customer service department. They have no control what so ever in regards to fixes. I can tell you after dealing with the chief engineer and the infotainment team and the lighting team, GM is not going to put anymore money into revising the 2014-15 headlights. They meet the DOT requirements and were approved by the Federal DOT.

Either mod them as others have done or find some junkyard 2016 lights that are in proper condition and order the harness and put them in, I can bet GM wont be doing anything for the 2014-15 headlights.

Think of customer service as a check and balance system. They are there to play mediator between the dealership and the customer. They cannot tell the dealership what to do. They cannot tell you what to do. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Them being on here is seriously just lip service to make you feel better.

My Silverado had terrible headlights... Dealership said they were fine. It was unsafe to drive at night. I literally offered the service advisor my truck for the night and told him to drive it at night and into work in the morning... He wouldn't take it.

I really like the updated front end and there are some things about Silverado that I miss. The closest I got to getting anything back was a salesman calling me a year later asking me how I liked the truck. I told him I F'ing hated it. He did take a day to research the history and called me the next day and offered to, got this, sell me another Silverado. "Would you let us rob you again?" What a deal! Fool me once, shame on you... Basically, the dealer and GM spit in my face.

Hi Beer Belly,

If you are experiencing this concern with your headlamps please feel free to send us a private message with your VIN and additional information on your situation. We approach vehicle concerns on a case by case bases, and would love to discuss this with you further.

Have a great day!

I just don't see why guys can come up with a mod, and GM can't just fess up, and perform these mods under warranty. The only saving grace, is that my truck is a lease, and I'll just have to deal with this for a few years.....unless I buy it out, then mod it.

It does suck that the firm was so short sighted when they short changed our 2014 models. I wish they had fixed it from the get go. That being said there is supposedly a clash action lawsuit.

They just run the numbers. If fixing them will cost more than the loss of business will cost them, they will let it ride. If the the loss of business will cost more, they will fix them.

I will say that the initial impression of the truck was totally awesome, great ride, super quiet, etc... I had on 08 Silverado LTZ prior to the 14. What a step up. Actual leather again on the dash? 10 out of 10... I was stoked to buy it...

Then I drove it daily... 9/10

Then I drove it in cold weather... 8/10

Then I tried to get some things fixed...7/10

Then I had to argue with the dealer 6/10

Then I had to deal with the area rep...5/10

You can see the escalation there. I did get customer service involved. I think they meant to help, I really do. Like I said, they have no real authority in the matter. Sort of like an "independant" third party to make sure information is being passed along. I have long thought about posting my detailed experience here, but it's really long, like 8 pages. I was hoping to get a call from GM over it and I did, but I could tell no one read it, just skimmed it and called (lip service). It was too late by then. After 25 years of nothing but GM trucks, I left for another brand. I do like the new front though. I don't think I could ever go back. It would have to be one hell of a deal. Hate to be bitter, but I have reason.

I totally expected to have some issues with the truck. I got some fixed and some not fixed. Steering got half-fixed I guess. Headlights they would not acknowledge a problem with. The frame rust after 1 winter was pretty much the end of it. Laying on my back, in the snow after picking it up again from the dealer for the steering gear finally being replaced (it was better but wandered all over the road) I threw in the towel. I spent way too much money to have these kinds of issues.

Sorry... Rant mode off... lol

While it would be ideal if GM would "fix" them under a recall program, I would at least be satisfied with a GM factory supported and approved "performance upgrade" kit for the headlights.

I still have my 2001 Toyota Tundra. Amazing how much better the headlights are in it. The Tundra is now my first choice for night driving.

I totally understand your pain. I too have a wandering issue with mine and even had to pay a dealership to align it for the 3rd time. GM has taken no responsibility to help me or reimburse me. All I get from customer service is "I'm sorry". My answer to that is since the company I work for has seen my issues, they decided that our fleet of 25 Chev and GM trucks are all soon to be replaced and we are not going with GM again. He is looking into Dodge and Toyota. Myself. I know this is my last GM product ever and I have only owned GM. "IM Sorry too"

Been down that road, it's copy and paste lip service. Sorry you have to travel the road with all of us.

I too have dealt with GM customer service and their lame ass regional rep. The training they receive for those positions must be to study liars and mimic them. It sucks and I wish you the best.

No one gets to the top without stepping on some throats on the way up.

The Big 3 all do this though. Maybe they all will get the dribbling $h1t$ for a year.

I traded mine in after about 9 months or so... Painful loss, but I really hated the truck by then. It took a lot for it to get that far, but I'll be damned if I am going to make those types of payments for something that turns my stomach each morning.
