You realize you guys are arguing over the same thing right? The two terms mean the same it just depends which you choose. Toemato, tomato.

If something has depreciated in value then it's value has diminished.

I am pretty sure toemato is not a real word.

The front bumper has been pushed in from hitting the car in front of me. The two hooks on the front are bent in different directions. So no telling what else is damaged underneath it.

These trucks are expensive. Ive heard of having the whole frame replaced. I bet they'll fix it. Doesn't look too bad.

Don't get your hopes up for a total. Mine got a full frame replacement. 26k total in repairs. A good shop will fix her right up, just depends what your insurance company wants to do. Mine is as good as new, no issues yet.

And as far as diminished value: it depends on state and your part in the accident. I'm in PA and since I was the first party person ("caused" the accident), I can't get it. Good luck to you with whatever happens, be patient.

2015 z71 4x4 package with 18000 miles high in of 28k to 31k. It's gonna be real close. State Farm said "repair cost + salvage cost > ACV it will be a total. Right now just " repair cost + 20,000 > 31,000

They're valuing it at 28-31k I take it? Mine is a '14 and had 27,000 miles at time of accident and Geico valued mine at 30-32k.. Which I think kinda screwed me out of total cause 26k repairs+7500k salvage value was over 32k. Buttttt my situation was messed up..poor initial adjustment by Geico rep resulted in start of repairs which unveiled more damage. No ins company is gonna pay a shop to put it back tougher than to then total it. But no complaints, my truck has been great since repair. Good luck.

Diminished value only can be claimed against another insurance not your own. That would be the equivalent of going after yourself for the difference. Kind of pointless it would just mean your insurance company would be filing a claim against you to pay you. So they call it a day and just say zero.

Just for reference your collision and comprehensive insurance ONLY covers the value of the vehicle, if you put money into it you should appraise it and tell them and insure that amount from that point on if you want coverage of your extra goodies. You cannot very well buy a $10,000 car then plate it in solid gold wreck it and them claim a million bucks when you were only paying for coverage of $10,000.

On the other hand Liability insurance (you hitting someone else) typically covers up to 1 million by law so you could claim your 10,000 gold plated car is actually worth a million bucks and their insurance would pay it. Example only of course but that is how it works.

I was looking at one of the GM websites and they said not in production. But after a phone cal for the low cost of 2400 not painted.

Do we know if or where GM makes the beds? Perhaps since they are rolled steel or whatever they are made in a different production facility and only installed at the factory? Hence shows up as not in production because they do not actually produce them as they did in the past. Still seems like a bug.

I only have two choices the dealership knows I am a great customer to them I send them five referrals a month. The threshold for this one is between 18-22 k for the 75% damage costs figure to ACV. They can total it or I trade it in the same day. I just thought there was more hope for this truck but the more I look at it and discovering things. RIP John the Revelator

If I were you I would be rooting for a total. Sure, there are success stories but for the most point you don't want a vehicle that has suffered that much trauma. Especially since you were not a fault.

Long time since update: damage is 20.6k but I caught them using a salvaged bed that was clearly wrecked. Crew cab front doors make different sounds than the rears
