Wheel offset question

I got the 20" factory wheels with some

275/60r20 fallen wildpeaks at3 (33") with rc 2" level kit . Truck does not rub at all.

My question is I would like to pick up some fuel hostages 20x9 but would like that little aggressive look where the tire pokes out a little bit.

But not sure what offset I need. I tried calling shops and everybody was unable to give me numbers. Everybody keeps telling me to just get +1 offset - but they claim they will sit flush with the fender

Fuels available offsets are +1. +20. And -12. What do you recommend

Well your stock wheels are probably a +27 or so...I have a +12 on my menace 808's and they sit perfect IMHO...just sit flush with the nubs on the side of the tire sticking out...so a +1 should probably poke out a little and a -12 will be probably close to 3/4" or more out..I guess it just depends on how wide u think looks good.

I'm +0, and have a little poke. I think anywhere from +6 to +, is what you're after.

Offset numbers equate to different backspacing depending on wheel depth.

Google wheel backspacing chart -- lots of them out there, but many have advertisements or are in other forums so I am not providing a link.

For the choices you listed, the +20 will keep them tucked inside the fenders, but still stick out farther than stock. The +1 will put them about flush with the fender or just barely outside. And, the -12 will definitely make them stick outside the fenders.

Thanks for the responeses

I went down the truck shop and told them what I wanted to do and they recommend a -12 - 20x9 rim

So I am getting them installed tomorrow.

Thanks

How did they turn out? Can you post pics? I'm looking at offset also and wanna see what a 20x9 -12 looks like compared to stock?

The offset changed to +31 in 2014. I wouldn't go any lower than a +15 on a '14 up. Naturally the lower the offset and especially getting into 0 or - offsets the more the wheel will stick out and will bring more problems. Having big taller tires that stick out may look cool but will have negative issues that most aren't prepared for. The more a wheel sticks out and you get away from the stock offset you will have too much scrub radius in the front end geometry, feedback in the steering wheel, stiffer steering, steering tracking and most importantly of course is premature wear on all ball joints, front end and steering parts. I'm sure you paid good $$$ for your truck but If you like fashion over function and don't care about stress, wear, and steering issues then go with whatever offset you like.
