20 vs 22 performance difference

I think there could be a difference due to weight, but honestly, this is such a first world problem :)

I have two sets of GM wheels for my 6.2L Denali - 22s with Bridgestone Alenzas and 18s with Wrangled Duratracs. I notice absolutely no difference in acceleration between the two. Next time I switch I'll weigh them. I can say that I've noticed a slight (0.5) mpg drop with the Duratracs.

Is it possible one had premium gas in the tank and the other may have had regular or mid-grade? This certainly would cause a noticeable difference in performance and could explain the difference.

It's possible...it would explain the difference in the feeling of the 2 trucks... but if so really dumb move by the dealer to skimp on 5 buck worth of extra gas on truck they were asking $68,000 for... They had the truck listed for 64k on the web, but they'd put 68k on the sticker and I called them on it... "oh that $4,000 more... is for... uh... 'we tinted the windows'"....

Certainly can't argue with that! Although the thought wasn't necessarily skimping on a few bucks, but more that whoever got tasked with taking it to put in some gas likely wouldn't have known it had the 6.2 and even if they did may not have realized (or cared) that it ideally needed premium. We'll never know for sure, but the differences you described fit exactly with the scenario that one had premium and one didn't. Seems like much more logical explanation than the 20 vs 22 inch wheels.

On to the important part...Did you find one you liked and pull the trigger?

Nope.. both trucks were short beds, and I want a standard bed... But I did pull the trigger, or should I say kill the chance of doing business with the dealership that called the 4000 dollar markup overage for tinting the windows... then they brought in the sales general manager, and he apologized that there must have been some mistake when putting the price on the truck... and then he went on to tell me that that if I wanted the tri mode step I'd have to order a Ultimate Denali package, and that it included the dvd entertainment system... Which I have zero interest in having the dvd system, and it's extra to have it installed anyway... after all the lies, there can be no trust... so long story short, there's tons of dealerships but I wont be dealing with this particular one.

The 22 are defiantly heavier.. I went from my 2014 Double cab AT with 20's to a 2016 Double cab AT with 22's I felt it with the braking for sure.

Acceleration only a little.

I get better millage out of the 22's which I wasn't expecting but maybe the engine is just a little tighter than the 2014 was.

The 22's don't like to slow down when you let off the gas ha ha.

haha well you matched the heaviest OEM wheel to a light 4 ply low profile all season rubber then matched pretty much the smallest/lightest wheel you can put on a modern 1/2 ton w/ heavy ass 10 ply LT AT tires - sounds like a push to me LOL

Seriously, that's why you notice no difference or only a slight drop that would be due to the more aggressive tread & the braking/rolling difference is also related to that more than unsprung weight I'm guessing as well - in other words the 22"s w/ all seasons have much lower rolling resistance/smoother tread while the duratracs are the opposite,

Most likely any acceleration difference between 20's and 22's on a first time test drive was in your head. The first time you mashed the gas you didn't know what to expect and it felt great. The second time your mind had an expectation for that same feeling, but you knew what to expect so the thrill wasn't there.

My Duratracs are P-Series, not LT tires. They're much lighter. The next time I swap around I intend to weigh both sets.
