Dented Driveshaft?

On a scale of 1 to "needs to be replaced", how bad is this?

The truck is 9 days old and I finally got a chance to crawl underneath it to get an idea of how hard it's going to be to install a lift. That's when I found it... My wife actually mentioned she felt like it vibrated some, and I sometimes thought that too, but I was hoping it was in my head. Maybe not?

Kill it with fire.

In all honesty spend a hundred or so and have an independent driveline shop look at it. Dealer will say it was something you did and charge you a lot.

Even on a truck that's 9 days old? lol

This is the replacement truck for the one I bought originally, that had an emissions system failure, random cylinder misfire, and traction control failure, then died on the side of the road (literally the engine shut off with the key still in it) all before I hit 180 miles.

Hopefully they will make this right, I've had less issues with all of my other cars combined in the last 10 years than I have had in the last two weeks or so...

Also, what would cause that? Maybe putting it on a lift where the drive shaft drooped and rested on the corner of the platform? Or does GM pick these things up with a forklift to move them around? The driveshaft is obviously lower than the frame, so the forks could dent it?

Coming off the transport at too much angle could do it too...hard to tell if it has abrasion marks?

I would take it back to my dealership and have it replaced. I couldn't imagine a reputable dealer giving you any problems.

Yup.. if the dealer of delivery was responsible for the damage then they have to be the ones to fix it, but more than likely they'll tell you they didn't do it and won't cover warranty.

Its a shame because any dealer should warranty it. Contact GM if they don't help to have it escalated, that should work.

This most likely happened by a unexperienced person putting it on a lift.

I can remember years ago when a kid working a Pace in the tire and battery shop. We had a guy replace four tires on a typical van. We had two types of lifts, one was for cars and others for trucks and vans. They only came about two feet of the ground. When the guy was done with the van he took it around the parking lot for a test drive. I was looking at it at the top of the parking lot driving around and noticed a lump of something would show repetitively from the bottom of the van. Well I noticed right away that he bent the drive shaft and didn't even realize it. When he got back I said to him you just might want to look under the van. He did and said holy shit thats what the banging was. It made a dent in the floor pan as well. Very funny at the time.

Isn't that just a cover? I was under mine today and noticed it. Looked like a shield for the actual drives after.

No. The driveshafts are hollow aluminum. And the shock mount on your axle in normal, not bent.
