Rear indicator failure on both sides after rust spray

So I had the truck undercoated yesterday. After I pick it up and go to turn out of the parking lot I notice that the I get a warning on the dash for signal failure. Try the other side, and get the same thing. Super weird and I'll be calling them when they open.

Ive been working on electronics and especially car electronics for years so I know it's pretty likely they had something to do with it.

That said, here is what's happening.

-Driver rear light has the top bulb for the indicator blown. Not sure if this should cause a problem on both sides though.

- indicator flashes at regular speed 3 times then flashes at double speed as it would if one indicator was blown. This happens on both sides

-passenger side has no bulbs out. Appears to work except that it flashes at double speed as if it did have an indicator bulb out. This one is new to me, haven't seen that happen before.

I'm sure I can fix this if I have to.

That said, do you have any thoughts here guys? As in has Anyone ever seen a similar issue before? And do you know, if I have one side bulb out, does it make the other side flash double speed for some reason?

Thanks guys

Did you check your front bulbs as well? If so, and they are fine, I'm guessing some undercoating got into the connection possibly. Take some electronic cleaner and hit the connections real good

Yeah the front are all good, should have mentioned that. I figured the same thing as well. I'm thinking it's either that, or some weird new wiring scheme that makes the blown bulb cause issues on both sides. I have not had to look at any electrical issues on this one yet so I'm not sure what's there for wiring

How would having undercoating done affect lights? I don't understand. :happysad:

Well I mean obviously it shouldn't affect them. But it's highly unlikely that both rear indicators start having issues on their own at the exact time it was getting the undercoat done.

Just spoke to business and luckily they want to help me out here and are going to fix it. Phew. I'll post updates here in case anyone has this problem in the future. I believe they do pull out the tail lights to spray if I'm not mistaken.

They may have just disconnected something so they could spray and didn't get it connected back up.

My 2014 had the bed sprayed with LineX and for a year I kept wonder why people spoke so highly of the bed lights because they we not that bright.

Then one day I was in the bed cleaning and realized all the rail lights were taped over. Much brighter after I took the tape off..

The shop forgot it on..
