2017 Duramax Availability

Sad... My dealer hasn't had a Duramax in months.... How is Chevy supposed to compete if they don't have the inventory to sell?

Interested in what others have to say, but come the 4th quarter of the year, I don't think there are very many diesels out there. I have to go pick up some parts at my dealer for my truck today, I'll have a look around to see how many of the maxies they have out on the lot.

Driving by the Sports Creek raceway park (located a few miles from the Flint plant) i noticed it looks like the entire place is being used by GM as a staging area.

 

Maybe they are doing some kind of batch & hold with the 17 Dmax similar to what Ford has done in the past.

 

Makes it easier to get them back in in case they find an early issue.

They were being held there for an EPA hold supposibly, but the hold was said to be lifted Saturday and they are now shipping them out. My Denali is being build 12/12

I ordered mine in September and it's supposedly built and been shipped from Flint, according to my dealer and GMC Customer Service. I do have an actual VIN, so that leads me to believe it actually exists. With that said, nobody is able or willing to provide me with any more detail than that.

Following on a couple of the diesel/dmax sites, and no one anywhere has reported seeing a 2017 available at a dealer -- seems like they are (were?) holding everything that has been built.

Lots of speculation on the reason(s).

 

Many seem to have the s/n for their truck -- which means it is built, since they are not assigned ahead of time.

My guess would be the EPA certification might not be complete yet.

 

Remember the LBZ hardware equipped trucks shipped with LLY programming back in 06?

Well, I'm a patient guy, but my bull-crap-o-meter is beginning to go off.

 

My dealership which has always been very forthcoming and good about providing up-to-date info and order status on previous vehicles is just shrugging their shoulders with a confused look on their face. Various forums are starting to heat up about the Duramax trucks sitting in overflowing holding yards outside Flint. My truck has been sitting at 4300 for weeks, and now GMC customer service is telling me they're not able or allowed (depending on the rep) to give me a status update and I should go back to the dealer for information.

 

I'm starting to think something stinks...
