My truck is a 2010 that I bought with 103k on it. I changed the plugs and wires and had one plug wire where it would hit the steering linkage under the hood and it would pop that wire off. When that happened I got the service stabilitrak message too until I put it back on. Could it be ignition related? Maybe need new plugs/wires/coil packs? I'm with you in that I don't understand why oil would have anything to do with it.

Well for me the P0011 code is because the sensors that deal with it are oil sensors. I am just not sure what the type of oil has to do with it. The service stabilitrak is kind of a general fault to the system, you have to hook a code reader up to see what direction you need to go as far as ingnition, intake, or any thing else.

I've got 87k miles on my '09 and had the service stabilitrak come on three times in the last 18 months. It only stays on for about 10 miles. No codes show up with the odbii reader but that's not unusual according to my mechanic buddy. He said it could be a whole host of things which this thread seems to point out. I'm hoping a resolution shows up in this thread and that, maybe, it can work for me, too.

Well the code that is associated with the service stablitrak is a P0011 which is something like "camshaft advance bank 1" or something like that

DTC P0011: Camshaft Position (CMP) System Performance

These actuator are design like the oil monitor to perform with sythetic oil. These oils go longer without sludge. If people use dinosaur oil and go by their oil monitor instead of mileage well oil sludge occurs and these solenoids start to stick and give out performance codes. Sludge slows these to a crawl, so timing isn't met in the time delays set by the ECM.

New to the forum here. Just purchased this suburban. Previous owner sounds exactly like dirtymafia..... almost identical stories. Anyone ever figure out what the issue is with these things. I bought this vehicle for an awesome price and figured I could fix the issues. Previous owner was super honest and let me in on everything he has tried to fix and such. Suburban runs fine other then the rough shifting and throwing p0011. I've talked in passing to a few gm techs who said that there is a oil filter that increases oil pressure by 10psi or so ( mine idles at 19psi and cruises at 36psi) and has helped resolve a lot of people's gm problems. Anyone ever hear of such a beast. Any thoughts or ideas would be awesome. She's got 103k on her and is awesome other then the rough shifts as described by dirtymafia. Thx

Dirtymafia..... are you still out there? I'd love to hear what ever happened or if you ever figured out the issue. Or anyone else who has some input.

This rig is sick. I'd just like to figure out these crazy intermittent shifts. It's like it's got back spams every so often, and then it goes away. It throws the code for me every couple thousand miles. But the hard shifts are every few times you take it out. Seems to get worse if you take a trip that's over 40 miles. Never happened when taking it out when she is still cold. I'd love some input here.

When my 2011 Yukon did this it ended up being the throttle position sensor. At least it hasn't done it since we replaced it. Good luck.

Hmm can't remember the code but maybe not? It would start flashing "service stabilatrak" and reduced engine power then pretty much quit running. Was a real pain.

I've never had any reduction in power. It's just been intermittent bad shifts. Like I did I get rear ended.... then it goes away, and is fine for a while. Then it comes back and finally after going back and forth it will finally throw that code. Very very strange. Seems to be a computer mis communication. Check engine light is on again so I'm going to have a diagnostic test done on it and see how that goes.

Dirtymafia, is your problem still fixed? Im having the same issues with my 2007 nnbs sierra 6.0. I have changed the cam position sensor, and the magnet. The P0011 code still comes on randomly. Oil pressure is good. Oil is full, and fresh.

Hello I also have been having the exact same issues with my 2010 GMC Denali 6.2l since I bought my truck 3 years ago. I have only got the p0011 code a handful of times but my service stabletrac illuminates almost daily now. The p0011 seems to be oil related but I never thought the stabletrac was.  If anyone has figured out these issues I would definitely appreciate any input thank you.

The P011 code is a “B” code & shouldn’t turn the CEL on. This problem is an oil temperature reading problem where incorrect information is being sent to the PCM & locking the transmission into high line pressure making the transmission shift hard from 1st to 2nd. Add an external oil cooler and use synthetic oil & you will probably solve the issue.
