There's a few people that make conversions for it. Many people have done it but it just will need to be tuned before you run e85

This is interesting and I understand there's a power advantage to the E85 fuel as well or am I mistaken...?

Yes. Factory power is rated at 355 at the crank/flywheel on 87 I believe and 383 at the crank/flywheel on e85. With a good/aggressive tune you can probably get 40hp out of e85. It's because of e85 that the 5.3 with bolt ons can get close to 400rwhp

That's what I would like. To get to as close to 380-400rwhp without force induction.

There are some camshafts out there that do cater to DOD/AFM. I would like to keep those features if possible and if I can't get to 400 without sacrificing that then that's fine. I want to retain as much mpgs as possible with my mods.

I know it's a give and take scenario and I completely accept that. Just want to squeeze out as much as I can, while retaining DOD/AFM.

I'm also still running my stock 3.42 gears and with the change in wheels, my calculations tell me I should bump up to 3.73 gears to match up everything. Is it worth it or should I use a tuner that can compensate for gear ratios and larger wheels. I originally purchased my truck with the factory 20s and with the tires came out to 29 inch tires (+/-) and now I have 22s with 32'ish tires.

29"? Damn mine came with 20s and 275/55r20 which equates to about 31.9 and I have 22x10s and 305/45 which is 32.8x12. There are some cams that do but the afm/dod lifters are known to collapse on the older models. Haven't heard much on the 14+ but it's actually been said that people can get same mpg in straight v8 mode as they do in v4. That's why people use the Range AFM Delete which plugs in the obd2 port and just shuts the afm off.

Full bolt ons manifold and tb swap and e85 conversion could get you up there. If not I would do a fear swap at that point followed by then going with a cam or forced induction.

My mistake regarding the tire size. Now that I'm recalling it was more around that spot 30-31inches. I'm sure mine came with the same tire size with the factory 20s. I have 32ish size now, not 33s. I'll re-do my calculations. Doubt it'll be needed after recalculating now but curious anyways.

I've heard of the Range plug in for both V4 and V8 mode. I have an Ecometer for mpgs plugged into my OBDII now.

Think I'll forgo the cam and definitely don't want to go forced induction. I'll do full bolt-ons and a tune. My oil catch can is coming in soon and looking for the link that shows where and how to cut the hole in the air intake box to let more air into it. I'm using an amsoil filter I got from a local auto parts store. I used them on an 06' Tundra 4.7L I used to have and had great results. That and I have the AirRaid MIT tube.

Would love to see dynograph #s before/after of 6.2 intake and tb swap on a 5.3 if anyone knows.

When I do the math calculating my tires at 33 inches times my gear ratio of 3.42 and dividing by my old tire size which was 30 inch from the factory with the factory 20s... I get 3.76 which means I should swap to 3.73

gears. I got this from a video I pulled from youtube...

That along with a tune and the long tube headers that will go on all together will bring far more.

Headers will do the most good....Believe me I was one of the first on here that did this mod so don't expect too much. Basically your bolting on a larger throttle body and that's it, manifolds are exactly the same except for the Inlet opening.

It's my understanding that the manifold flows more air in this case. Or am I mistaken?

It does. But you.probably won't see much gain in hp I think just torque and throttle response
