Noises and Vibrations

I got letter in mail the other day from local Chevy dealer telling me they "need" used truck just like mine!

I've learned to deal with it--got that weird ticking metal noise when I hit the throttle just right. It's either lifters or maybe bad cat? Has anyone ever figured that out?

I've read the countless threads and I believe my truck also has that dreaded vibration in the rear.

Girl is over year old and has 24k miles on it. Thank glad I bought an extended warranty!

The tick could just be an exhaust leak. I would think you'd hear a lifter tick at idle.

I thought the same thing -- the noise happens at random RPM's while driving -- most notably when the truck has a load (going up hill). It's more like a metal tapping sound. Perhaps I got a bad CAT; sounds like it is coming from driver's side firewall area.

I thought but have hard time believing that. It's more like a metal rattle. It happened tonight when I sped up going up an overpass. I'm going to take it to my exhaust shop and see if maybe it's a bad cat. I've had it for awhile now and haven't had any performance impact. Just annoyance more than anything.

Ok I just purchased a used 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500LTZ unfortunately without doing my research Mine makes this noise as well. so other than the excuse of the DI causing this noise. Did GM ever come up witha solution to the problem or is the consumer just stuck with a noisey truck. Anyone know.. GM please chime in at any time.. thanks

I haven't taken my truck in yet. Does your do it at certain RPMS with and without load? I can make it happen on command with an uphill grade.

I just talked to dealer and even under warranty, I will have to pay a $100 diagnostics fee. Ok. Well. I may just live with noise. I've had it all 23k miles and it hasn't killed my engine yet.

Mine does it at idle and recently while driving through a small tunnel. I could hear the noise as well... The dealer told me that it was normal like everyone is being told. So now I'm going to take it to another dealer just for a second opinion.

My fee has been $48.00. Even reading all the different post and you tube videos. I have to admit that noone has said that their engine has blown or anything like that. Just one post about pushrods being bent but nothing else. I just wonder why GM never did any type of recall or anything to resolve this.
