I had one of these...it buckled with a dressed 440 hanging on it. Apples to oranges, but definitely not 1000 pound capacity. The 440 fell hard enough to put a crease across the oil pan...

 

I ended up modifying it and welding it solid with extra bracing to make it work.

Wasn't arguing that, only that these 1000# stands won't hold 1000#s...

At such time that my engine is not on the stand, I will be upgrading all of the fasteners to 8.8 or 10.9, possibly welding it together.

In the midst of jacking around on my 11 hour Saturday, I realized that I have no hole for an oil dipstick in my LM4 block. Now I am debating about buying the AFXtech LS7 dipstick drill guide for 80.00, or just not using one.

Not familiar with that engine, so tell me how are you supposed to check the oil with no dipstick?
