MBRP cat back on 5.3

I am leaning towards MBRP xp stainless cat back exhaust. Mostly for value reasons. I just can't justify shelling out a grand, and I don't want to chop my factory exhaust.

My question is should I do the Sigle exit for simplicity and cost or the dual rear? The dual setup looks better but costs more and is more clamps that could come loose. Is the dual any better sounding or is it just for looks over the single exit?

What say you?

As probably the cheapest stainless system I could find, I looks possible to swap other mufflers in if I don't like the sound

This is what I was thinking as well

I had this cat back and found it too quiet, swapped out the muffler for a super 10 and i like it a lot more even though I'd swap out the super 10 for something even louder if I could find something haha

I hate dual pipes on these truck because they are not true duals. I perfer a single out....BTW that grade of stainless that MBRP has is low grade and will flash rust.

Saw the grade of stainless was lower but should be better than aluminized. I comes with a lifetime warranty. Not sure what it covers though

I got off the fence and ordered the mbrp stainless single side exit. With code score20 it was $415 shipped, no tax to my state from autoanything.com Now to wait for a day above freezing to install it.

Shamrock let me know how you make it out. I am going back and forth between doing what your doing and taking off muffler and putting in a Borla or Super Flowmaster 44, or biting the bullet and getting db exhaust. I wish I could just buy borla muffler and have muffler shop run stainless pipes but no muffler shops in syracuse, ny want to do this.

I am thinking about ordering the 6.2 system aluminized. I am in florida so not worried about rusting out.

I want some good sound but I don't want it tooo loud and aggressive.

After ridiculous amount of research I pullled the trigger on Flowmaster American Thunder. Lifetime warranty on everything and after 20% discount and $75 rebate ended up being $528.

For what it's worth I had the aluminized 3" single exit MBRP on my truck and the V4 drone sucked in town and on the highway. The tone should be about the same between the stainless and aluminized versions. Sounded great in v8 though. However, after a year I couldn't take the v4 noise anymore and decided to go back to the stock system for now.

If you have AFM disabled the exhaust system would be amazing.

My reason for getting the MBRP was also the price point and as installation difficulty goes I'd say 2 out of 10.

So was it the helicopter noise in V4 under light acceleration when the truck is starting to get under load but tries to stay in v4, or just the humming sound of a loud exhaust at highway speeds that was the issue? i figured i would give it a try and if it was bad i would get a range afm to turn off v4. did you consider swapping a different muffler in place of the mbrp?
