Tuner/Programmer Question

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I've only ever owned one programmer in my life. That was about 6 years ago, edge evolution cts. I'm looking to get one for my Sierra. I'm only concerned with disabling AFM and adding new tire size. I'll probably get a custom tune down the road, but it's not an immediate concern. Really like the range module, but it won't help with tire sizes. I don't want one with a display like the edge I had, I'd rather not even know the thing is there. What's out there that will accomplish these things without breaking the bank?

The Intune works well for what you want..I have one but wish I would have bought the trinity so I could have the display.

Thanks y'all I was just starting to read up on the diablos. does it need to remain plugged in to the odb or can you unplug once done? Do all the diablo products work with the diablew tunes?

You don't have to keep it plugged in. The trinity can stay plugged in and mounted similar to a gps and gives you constant info about the motor

When I was looking for a hand held programmer the only one that I could find that would allow me to set the AFM to only come on above a certain speed (currently set a 50mph) was a Hypertech 2.0 part 2000. It is around 300 bones. I tried the tune but it caused a ping when in 4V mode at light throttle so I just use it for AFM control and reset the top speed a bit. To me it is still worth 300 bones to do that. i like the AFM to still be active to gain some MPG plus to keep the AFM system functional. I am not sure but maybe it could cause AFM to not function if left completely off for a long period of time? that cause an issue at tradein time haha

MPG is pretty darn good with the AFM

I really like that idea, I don't mind the afm on trips down the interstate. In town and back roads to my fishing spots is where I hate it.

Love that cluster man, wanna swap?! Lol

I emailed the hypertech dudes a couple of months ago and they said to send them the unit serial number etc. and said they would investigate the click ping problem, but I forgot and have never done it. I may do that in a few minutes here. I plugged it into computer a couple of months back and no further updates were available at that time. They are supposed to add options for tweaking the 8spd transmission in the future also. I guess I need to get the info to them so they can improve their product, I am sure I am not the only one that has complained..... here got you a longer mileage average mpg pic this is mostly city driving and lots of idling so really low overall speed

I'm hovering around a lifetime average of 16 mpg, just turned over 40k miles. I do a lot of backroad driving to kayak, but honestly I'm just late for work 4/5 days, and I will get on it haha.

My problem with the AFM started when I upgraded the exhaust to the GM Borla catback back about 11,000 miles ago. To me the AFM at low speed would change the exhaust note, it aggravated me enough that i wanted the AFM turned off at low speeds. Check out this GM Borla exhaust, makes an old codger like me feel like he is back in high school LOL
