Is there a film type that's better than others?

Some shops are using a newer carbon film. My guy offers it also, but when I got mine done, he used the SunGard Black Pearl.

I'm just curious, as there is an LA Tint near me that offers different types of film.

It's much easier to make them "match" from the outside, looking in....than it is to match them from the inside, looking out. The factory privacy glass has a brownish tint to it, and most aftermarket tint film has a blue or gray hue to it. It's really noticeable when looking out the windows at a snowy field, or even looking outside at a white building. The only way I've found to "match" it, is to wrap the whole dang thing in 5%. Then, it's so dark that you can't see the different hues, haha. I'm getting my new truck done tomorrow, and I'm just having 20% put on everything (except the windshield). The front will end up quite a bit lighter than the back, but I'm okay with that. I'd rather the back be darker than the front, instead of trying to match them perfectly. I'm too OCD for that as well, haha.

Agree with Big Whiskey just do 20% all around save the windshield. Back will be darker but will cut down considerably on the heat. Price on 2 front windows alone will run between $40-$100 to tint depending on the quality of the film and warranty.

On my '15 I had the front two tinted with my shops middle grade tint and it was $80 and another $40 for a brow. I just had 30% put on because I still wanted to see out without any issues. I couldn't tell any hue difference between it. The best part about the local guy is all his tint is computer cut so it is an exact match and the brow is perfectly straight and not curved inward.

For my '16 I am seriously considering getting ceramic tint all around 90-80% on windshield, 30% on front two, and 80% over the back and then a regular brow on the front. The ceramic tint is supposed to help even more with heat soak and UV damage such as color fade and dash cracks.
