OCD and window tinting

Got a 17 Denali in black a few weeks back. I have always liked tinting my front windows to "match" the back ones. But, there are never perfect and my OCD hates it...

Has anyone replaced their rear door glass to clear, then have both tinted after market to have the front and rear door match??

Maybe I'm the only crazy one out there who's been thinking about this. ?

Then you would need to do the rear glass to fully satisfy your OCD.

Wouldn't be worth the cost to me. I can't tell the difference from the outside on mine, and doesn't bother me enough from the inside to worry about.

A good tint shop will be able to match it perfectly I have had numerous vehicles matched to factory with LLumar tint

The factory rear glass is somewhere around 17% or 18%. Most shops, including the one I use, normally use 20% on the fronts. So it is a bit lighter. However some shops do offer a brand and I can't remember which brand, but I think my local guy said the tint is called MF17 which is supposed to be 17% and match as close to perfect as you can get.

However, keep in mind that even with perfectly matched tint, you still have the giant front window letting tons of light into the front half of the cab, so even if your front windows were factory tinted glass same as the back, they would still look a bit lighter because of all the extra light on the dash and front seats and stuff.

Here's mine before and after with 20%

Also, the "new" rear windows you will buy will be tinted already when they come in. So you will be wasting money, the tint is built into the glass composition when the glass is made.

what would be a decent price for a shop to do just the front windows? i know it'll vary by region and installer. just looking for a ballpark figure

You can get the in plain glass without the tint from the factory. They put them in the base trucks

The tint shop i use has 2 grades one is basic and the other is premium 3m. The basic one has a greenish tint from the inside the 3m does not. Is that what you mean?
