Dodge Durango SRT vs. AL Expedition - Which is your pick?

Ford announced that its all-new 2018 Expedition bigger-than-full-size SUV will be wider and longer. More importantly, it will be lighter. Ford says that depending upon the trim, the Expedition will lose up to 300 pounds. The curb weight of the outgoing Expedition was just under 6,000 pounds. Therefore, the weight loss is roughly 5%. Ford boasts that the combination of its 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and a class-exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission will enable the SUV to claim best in class towing capacity. Unlike some categories, Ford says that 50% of expedition shoppers value superior towing ability and 15% tow weekly or daily. Ford added, "That’s why the all-new Expedition offers Pro Trailer Backup Assist, which makes backing up a trailer as easy as turning a knob." Ford is also adding WiFi and wireless charging to catch up with GM.

 

This is a big news week for three-row SUVs. Dodge has announced that it will do an SRT Durango, making it the fastest three-row SUV on the market.

Dodge backs that up with a 12.9-second quarter mile and 4.4 0-60 MPH run certified by NHRA. The Durando SRT packs the 475-horsepower, 392-cubic-inch HEMI V-8 engine. Here's the fun part; Dodge says that this vehicle will out-tow all other three-row SUVs. Either Ford or Dodge are mistaken on the top towing claim.

 

Which is of more interest to you? Dodge Durango SRT or Ford Expedition for 2018?

A better question to ask is where the hell is a modern Trailblazer SS with an LT1 to compete with the Durango?

 

The traverse looks great, just flip the drivetrain around and stick a V8 under the hood.

 

And this is speaking as someone that has been seriously looking at a Durango RT or Cherokee SRT as a daily driver instead of my pickup.

I had a trailblazer SS and loved it. It would be nice if you could have that power in a value package like that without the hard ride and low profile tires. Some people would like the 0-60 acceleration and a smooth ride and don't need to corner like a sport car and go 150 MPH.

Coming from a Trailblazer SS, I'd take the Durango SRT all day. I'm curious about the 1/4 mile times. The current Jeep SRT is a low 13 second vehicle, and I'd imagine the two row Jeep is lighter, but maybe not. I would hope the less expensive Durango would be cheaper than a Jeep SRT.

I test drove one...and ended up buying a first gen GC SRT8, but man I miss having midsize SUV with a burly V8.

I looked at one but my trailblazer ss was only 33K in 06, the SRT was a lot more. I did like the looks of the SRT better thou.

You wouldn't catch me dead in the fiat. Ford anytime over fiat.

You'll be singing a different tune when you blow a turbo in these Egoboost engines!

      Help purchasing a touch screen digitizer

      Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?

      I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.

      I'm putting in an A-pillar pod/gauges, and I'm asking if anybody can identify a (preferably) fuse for a switched power and illumination circuit on the driver's side interior fuse panel. Offhand, everything I checked with a test light was constant-hot, and I'd much rather uses a piggyback fuse. I can certainly find a wire, but I'd rather not half-tap.   Thanks in advance for any help.
