2017's, was android auto dropped?

So I'm really interested in this Silverado, http://bit.ly/2lHp7Lt

But I'm dead set on getting Android Auto. I was leaning toward a Colorado, which has it, until this Rally edition caught my eye.

But if it doesn't have android Auto, I'm out. I know, you're all gonna tell me to go aftermarket, or Android auto isn't that great, but it's important to me.

I've searched the related posts here and apparently some early 2017 owners have it, but anything related to AA has been removed on the 2017 Silverado websites, so I'm concerned. I'll go to the dealer and check it out next weekend, but has anyone bought a recent 17 with the 7" mylink and does it have AA?

Thank you all so much for any help you can give me.

The dealer had to do a reflash on some vehicles to add Android Auto. Since this truck is at a Chevy dealership just ask them about it.

IOB, IO5 and IO6 radios on Silverado have the Projection" Icon on the screen which means Apple Car Play/Android Auto. 2017 there are no restraints on availability for it. 2016 was the only year that had a constraint issue on Apple Car Play/Android Auto.

I can confirm it being there on a Special Ops truck which is basically the same truck you are looking at but with the roll bar and graphics. Same radio.

That was early build 2016 model year trucks.

Mine has it as well but it is definitely an early build as I bought the first week of October 16 and glad I did apparently i use Android Auto all the time.

My 17 LTZ has it.....bought the truck 12/31/2017. I don't know how to tell when it was built.

Not sure anyone even clicked the link to look at the truck. This is a custom, basically looks like the work truck inside. It doesn't have the larger touch screen or the controls on the steering wheel. I highly doubt it has android auto or even capable of being upgraded by MVI. You could always contact them.

The truck you linked is a Custom not a rally edition. That vehicle is a lower trim level and appears not to have the correct radio. Most middle to upper trim levels will have it as it is available in 17s just not the trim package/optioned vehicle you linked.

The radio in the truck linked is the IOB 7 inch My Link radio. IOB has projection (car play/android).

According to this link, it has the 7" screen as 15HDriver said. It's also cheaper than the original link. ;)

Thank you all for your informational replies!

15HDriver, when I go in to look at it, what's the quickest way to confirm it has "projection". I'm guessing an icon on the screen somewhere?

Hit the HOME button to the left of center. Below the radio screen is the control panel. Left most button is HOME, then REWIND/BACK, then the POWER/VOLUME knob, Has a picture of a house on it. On the homepage there should be icons on the screen. I think starting with the top row, you should have AUDIO, GALLERY, and PHONE. The next row should have PROJECTION, SETTINGS and then ONSTAR.

PROJECTION is where the Apple CarPlay/Andriod Auto takes place. To use those, you have to have your device USB'd to the truck. The 7" radio is a touch radio, just like the 8 inch.

    • Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?
    • I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.
    • The lifter issue can be dealt with by shorter oil changes and quality oil IMO.
    • Got heavy rain, hail and light rain yesterday.
    • I'm putting in an A-pillar pod/gauges, and I'm asking if anybody can identify a (preferably) fuse for a switched power and illumination circuit on the driver's side interior fuse panel. Offhand, everything I checked with a test light was constant-hot, and I'd much rather uses a piggyback fuse. I can certainly find a wire, but I'd rather not half-tap.   Thanks in advance for any help.
