No Android Auto after Android Auto update???

Recommended Posts

Just picked my truck up from service (after hours so nobody was there) after supposedly having the android auto update done.

I have no option under settings for "Android Auto" under the option for "Apple Carplay". Also, nothing happens when I plug my S7 into the USB port and select MTP on the phone.

Did they screw up the update or am I missing something??

Please help.

The must have screwed it up, it should be under Apple car play.

The update goes in the HMI, I bet they just did a radio update.

Yes, I have Android Auto on the phone.

I took it to a different dealer today, explained what happened, they are looking at it now. The HMI / Radio update theory sounds likely to me.

Hopefully this dealer gets it right.

Just wanted to update, Second dealer got it right, works great. I am so glad I didn't drop the $1000 for the nav module, Android Auto rocks...... :)

Both rocks and sucks. Nav option was only $500 extra on MSRP and worth every penny, this way my cell phone stays in my pocket and, Silvy's lacking a powered USB port in a locked compartment, I don't have to screw around plugging and unplugging from the USB port every time I get in and out of the vehicle.

Thought I'd save a few bucks not getting the Nav on the '17 Impala and keep the extra cell phone plugged in 24/7 in the locked compartment USB port and use the Auto Android/Google as the Nav. Seems the low contrast, less detailed Google maps are less readable and pitiful compared with the high contrast, brightly colored GM Nav maps. Found out the hard way with the Impala - screwed myself because the USB port in the locked compartment is not powered on key off and phone goes dead in 2 days of no use and then I have to open the compartment to restart the dead phone upon power on. Worse, the non Nav version for the Impala (Silvy ?) has no DVD slot like the Nav version of the Silverado and I suspect that may be the reason why I can play mp4 videos on the 8" My Link screen of the upgraded Silverado Nav while I can't on the 8" My Link screen in the non-Nav Impala. Seems the Impala MyLink has identical screens but the video button is greyed out and it cannot recognize the mp4 videos on the flash drive, only the mp3 audios on the same drive.....while the Silverado recognizes both. It's great to play videos on the front screen waiting for the wife.

Besides the '16 Silverado Nav is improved over previous GM truck Navs and now can be programmed while the vehicle is in motion. Brings up a screen for you to confirm that there is a passenger present to program the Nav while in motion and once confirmed all options become active.
