6.2L fuel requirements; tunes?

Chuck Anders at Houston House of Power is one tuner in Houston. You can look him up on Facebook. Blackbear is another reputable tuner that a lot of people use also. They do mail order and travel to Houston on occasion.

I just bought my tuner/tune from BBP a few days ago. I was surprised they said they can't tune the 8 speed trans on the 17s though. They said not even sure if they will ever be able to.

I bought the AFE cai as well. I can't wait to get rid of the AFM, torque managment and all the other crap that sucks on these trucks.

I driver around in M7 all the time and haven't notices any mpg difference than with AFM, though I use 94 octane all the time.

As said above, there is no tunin for the 17s available right now, or maybe ever. But above that one, chuck at HHP tuned my 2014 6.2 with headers/intake and it runs great. He did a much much better job than KHP had previously done with my truck. Would stay away from them.

So your spending the extra money for a 6.2 and then wont run the proper fuel in it? :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Only if you didn't bother reading the actual statements I made.

Thanks for the heads up on chuck I'll go see what he has to say. My last was a 2012 so not exactly sure what torque management and all that is as these go.

HPTuners can tune both the ECM and the TCM of the 2017, not sure if anyone does research anymore..

The caveat with the TCM tuning is you need to send them the TCM to get it unlocked.

I did read that on chucks site after I said they weren't available. I'm sure a lot of people with 17s are happy to hear that!

This is a good topic. I own a 2016 gmc Denali 1500 with the 5.3 and use 87 octane. 93 makes no difference at all. I tow a camper during summer season and go to 89. The weird thing about the 2017 6.2 is it allows 87. 2016 didn't. There's only a .5 difference in compression with both motors. On a different note I own a Infiniti QX80 with the 5.6 which premium fuel is recommended but go to Nissan 5.6 with 10 less hp and runs on 87. Go figure. I have not tried 87 in my Infiniti. I'm in the peddle too much. The 5.3 is gutless compared to my Infiniti.
