Its been six months and I'm sure everyone knows exactly where they were when they heard the news, the same as the JFK shooting and Pearl Harbor.

I was walking through our Union here on campus when I saw TVs set up in the courtyard and knew something was going on with the way everyone was so quiet and the way the crowd was gathered around.  I got one #### of a chill down my spine and went back to my room to watch the news.

I was sitting in my office which is directly across from the conference room.  I couldn't help but notice the gathering in there and the TV's were on so I went to investigate and saw a big smoking tower.  After that it was a day packed full of rumors and worry.

I was sleeping and my sister woke me up screaming at me. As I was watching the tower smoke, the second plane hit and I thought I was dreaming. I will never forget that day.

Ditto....except I didn't have a sister screaming at me....my b/f was not in the room at the time & I just happened to wake up to see the first plane slam right into the tower.

i was walking down one of the hallways at work going to make copies when someone pulled me aside and told me that someone had flown a plane into the world trade center...i did not belive them at first until i saw it on TV a little while later

I was driving to work and heard it on the radio and the first thing I thought was it was some sort of a joke that cant be true.  Sure enough get to work and everyone was down in the lunch room watching everything on the big screen. :D

I was at work and didn't find out about it until just before the second plane crashed. I spent the rest of the day setting up tv's for the school to watch...

I was at a meeting in Tysons Corners just out of Washington DC with 50 Operations execs from every major newspaper in the US - we were interrupted with the news of the first plane - no details - then 50 pagers went off at the same time and we retired to the bar where there was a big screen TV - some of us were in the middle of calls back to our papers when the Pentagon plane hit - we could see the smoke from where we were.

I then drove home to Houston with two other folks - 30 hrs straight through.

I was just waking up at a Hampton Inn in Amarillo, TX when my wife who was in Colorado driving to work called asking me to turn on the TV to see what all the hoopla that she was hearing on the radio was all about.   As I turned on the TV, I saw the second plan hit the tower.  I spent the rest of the day at one of my dealers with all of their employees gathered around the waiting room TV.  My cell phone rang all day long, as everybody wanted to know my whereabouts since I mainly travel by airplane every week.  For some reason, I chose to drive the company vehicle that week instead of flying.  Glad I did.

I was at work.  We were in the middle of a base excercise (where we pretend we are at war for a week or so).  Someones wife called and said a plane crashed into the first tower.  We turned the tv on in the break room to see what was going on.  We talked about it being an act of terrorism because face it, what's the chances of a plane crashing into one of the towers.  We were all watching when the second plane hit.  By this time the excercise had pretty much come to a halt.  within a couple hours we had reconfigured several jets to an air-to-air combat status and they were ready to roll.  We've had jets and crews on 24 hour alert ever since.

It was my school's lunch hour, when my friend Paul ran up to me.  #### I know word for word our conversation.... "DUDE They hit the *ucking towers!!!"  "What?  wtf you talking about?"   Planes they hit the WTC towers man!  Come on!

Then we ran to watch the news.  After seeing the second plane hit I felt sick.  Still have a Very hard time watching the footage...

I was sitting in my first block class--Biology.  My teacher had been running off copies for us and came in and was like "I just heard that someone flew a plane into one of the World Trade Centers.  I'm not sure if it was an accident or what."  A little while later the principal made all of the TV's come on and we spent the rest of the day watching it on the TV.  It was horrible.

I was sleeping when the first plane hit, but was up to see the second one hit on live tv.  I will never forget that.  I was sad and I was very pissed at the same time, and still am.

I was getting ready to go to the airport for a trip to Maine. I was supposed to meet up with Mervz and SiiLT while I was there. My brother-in-law from Tampa called and asked if I was still going. I said,"Yeah, I'm leaving in about 30 minutes." He said, "Man, you better turn on the TV!"

The second plane hit just as I turned on CNN.

Needless to say, I didn't get to make my trip and I spent a week of leave (vacation in Navy term) watching the news.

How many remember where they were when Oklahoma City was bombed?

I was at work in Maine and caught the news just after.

How about the Challenger explosion?

I was in Atsugi, Japan on deployment.

KAL shootdown?

Atsugi, Japan. I flew some SAR efforts looking for debris or survivors.

(Yeah, I'm an old fart)
