dual battery in a 6-0

The only way to get the 2nd battery from the factory is with the duramax.

If  'OEM' setup is desired, it will require use of the duramax parts.

"Battery, heavy-duty dual 730 cold-cranking amps/70 Amp-hr, maintenance-free with rundown protection and retained accessory power
1 - Included and only available with (L5P) Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine."

Gas and diesel can both have the 220A alternator (replacing the 150A).  It is included with the snowplow prep, but available without snowplow prep.

Dual alternator (one of each) requires the diesel.

If it is for use with a winch (or similar) when the truck will be running I wouldn't bother to use an isolator.

Just hook it up like the duramax.

Used to run auxiliary power for a long time (like at a campsite) with truck not running, then an isolator might be wise.

I just did a quick build and price on GM's site and at least on the Canadian site it allows you to option a 6 liter truck with an auxiliary 730 CCA battery.... and the American site allows it too.

Why do you think you cannot get dual batteries in a gas truck? Every GM HD truck I have ever ordered I ordered dual batteries, it is still a option today...

Seems like a good price if it is an auxiliary and not just a change in battery

I wonder if they change the primary battery to a 730 as well.

(duramax is a pair of 730 cold-cranking amps/70 Amp-hr: std is 720 cold-cranking amps/80 Amp-hr)

Pretty sure they aren't calling one battery in the truck an auxiliary lol.

They are both 730's and yes it includes dual batteries. Gas 6.0...

I think I've let myself be mislead by the order guide entries.

This entry:

"Battery, heavy-duty dual 730 cold-cranking amps/70 Amp-hr, maintenance-free with rundown protection and retained accessory power
1 - Included and only available with (L5P) Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine."

is a couple lines above this entry:

"K4B         Battery, 730 cold-cranking amps, auxiliary
1 - Not available with (L5P) Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine."

And I ignore the entry for rpo KB4.

Sorry about the confusion.

Although at the end of the day it seems the OEM dual setup is the duramax setup....with the 730's..

Wow, the 220A alternator is standard with a snow plow prep now? I feel cheated...

I have the dual batteries cause I could...I have a winch, I run cold climate from time to time (spins the starter easier), and mainly because I could.

Available and included content is ever - changing.

One of the things that can motivate us to update from time to time.

I added the 220 to mine, just because I could.

220 is available as a stand alone option as well.

That's fine, but I only got the 160A with the plow prep package in 2012! Not that I need it...
