Rear camera message

I have been found some research and came up empty.

About 3 weeks ago we had a cold spell and one morning upon switching to reverse I got a pop up on the main screen. "Service rear camera system" my wording may not be exact.

It was there for a few seconds and vanished. Hasn't happened again and I'm starting to chalk it up to the cold.

Anyone ever see this? It looks rare as info is scarce at best.

I get this message sometimes when I pressure wash my truck. Goes away though. Prolly some kind of water or condensation buildup on the sensors.

I was going up steep driveway, and going to back up to turn around, and accidentally let it roll backwards while still in drive, and it killed the engine out, and I got that message. once I restarted the engine it went away

Snagged a picture of it. It's very random as to when it pops up.

I seen it a lot on my 2014 Silverado, a few times it stayed on for miles and miles but most of the time it was just the message and went right away. Dealer could never find the problem because you can't duplicate it. I just ignored it and haven't seen it on my 2017 Silverado yet.

my '14 has only ever done it once - it was a while ago so i don't remember the weather conditions

i know the screen was black with the reverse 'lines' and some message

Hello I have a question to ask about the camera as well. How do I get the push button of the screen which has the (on /off) lines for back up of the screen. This was not there before and now when I am inverse they are on the bottom of the screen? Any thoughts?

If your referring to the grid lines it's in a settings menu to either turn them on or off, if your not referring to the grid lines then you lost me, sorry.

Thanks, when I bought the truck you had to go into the setting to change the lines on or of but now they are on the screen as well when I go into reverse Not sure why they are there. and I am losing some of the picture.

I have to tell you my scenerio. My 2016 just flipped 36,500 miles. GM wanted an additional $2900 to extend the bumper to bumper warranty. I figured you hear about them building cars and trucks better these days, plus after what I spent on a new truck I figured the quality must be good. WRONG, Rear camera went out, that's 450.00. Once in a while you would think they would throw you a bone. Especially since all you have ever owned is GMC trucks, from 1994 Sonoma, 1999 Yukon, then 1994 Sierra, 2002 Sierra, to my 2016 Sierra. I had less problems with my 2002 Sierra with 300,000+ miles on it than I have with this 2016. Just frustrated and not happy I guess. You spend all that money and think your getting top quality and you end up with junk. If anyone has rear camera solutions, I'm all ears..Thanks for letting me vent.
