Question for guys with Amp Research retractable running boards.

Looking to purchase Amp Research retractable running boards....2 questions. 1) How far do the come down from the body when they are extended down? 2) Who has the best prices? Just want to make sure they drop down low enough more than my factory running boards.

I've installed these on trucks at the dealership and they definitely come down lower than the GM accessory running boards.

As far as best price goes I ordered mine from a shop I have a good relationship with and they were able to buy them factory direct at a much lower price than say Amazon for example.

I actually picked mine up from Amazon. They showed the normal price, but then I notice they had a 'buy from other sellers' link on the same page, clicked on it, and found the plug-n-play version for $1030 plus $34 shipping.. the seller only had one in stock. I think I lucked out, been installed for almost a month now.

Just FYI -- I recommend buying the OBD pass-thru harness as well (Amp p/n 76404-01A). The PnP system plugs directly into your OBDII port. Not a big deal but anytime you want to plug anything else into the port you need to disconnect the Amp boards. For about $60 extra for the pass-thru harness you get a direct replacement for your current OBDII port. It screws right into the same location under the steering wheel and allows you to keep your OBDII port open for things like code readers, tuners, etc. Well worth the money in my opinion.

I got mine from ourdealsrock.net and got a great price but that was almost 2 years ago. Also if you check Lund's website (they own Amp Research) sometimes they offer mail-in rebates.

You can get $10-$30 ODB II spliters off of Amazon that does the same(which is what I did) Just don't get the ones with the on/off switch, for some reason, they only have certain PIN, and the AMP plug needs one of the pins that is missing from those spliters with the on/off switch. I think those are overpriced ODB II spliters that AMP sells... IMO... .

I just saw some on amazon, which one did you use? They show a bunch of options.

I have this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V81XA9I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have an AFM disable and an ODB II reader for Torque, reason why I got a 3 port splitter. But I'm going to mod it with and on/off switch for the AFM module so it doesn't drain my battery :D. I like this one as it has the 90/degree bend. They also have the 2 port version of this.

And this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HJAMBI8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one has the PIN 1, which the AMP plug-n-play needs, those others with the on/off switch, don't have PIN 1. I bought this first, but then decided I needed 3 ports.. haha.

I sent Amp Research a message stating that they should list the amount of drop on their website since they now list a few options.

Those will work too. The main difference is that the Amp one comes with the correct brackets to mount it exactly the same as the factory one. I wanted to keep mine as stock as possible so dealers couldn't give me any crap about it (every time you take your truck to a GM dealer they plug into the OBDII port). If you don't care about letting the port hang loose below the dash you can save yourself some money with the ones linked above.

Those are just ones I decided to get. They still have the same style like AMP has for less if you want the bracket as well.

Mine don't hang under the dash, I have it tucked and Velcro in place. I can always unplug the main harness when it needs to go into service, no big deal.
