iv always wondered what advantages are of changing the thermostat to lower temp from 210 degrees stock to 180-190 besides the obvious of the truck running a little colder any info would be much appreciated thanks

Leave it alone. Zero benefit for a daily driver. Modern vehicles are engineered and optimized to run at higher temps.

That was worth a good laugh.

Wonder how much more fuel you're using because the engine 'puter isn't registering proper computed engine temperature???!! Just saying.

If these trucks are designed to run hot, they're designed to run hot. Only application I can see usefulness in cooler temps is boost.

This went hand in hand with computer reprogramming in the 90s. The thought was the lower temperature thermostat would allow a denser fuel to be delivered to the TB. You needed to reprogram the computer for it to know that you changed the thermostat.

I'm not sure it did anything...it was a common mod in the Trans Am and Camero crowd.
