Chrome wheel peeling

Just curious if anyone else in the norther states have had issues with their chrome wheels peeling really bad on the inside where the bead on the tires sit. when i had my tires swapped a while back i noticed it a little but they never leaked so i didnt think anything of it. now i have one wheel that slowly leaks down. about 1psi per 4-5 days.

also wondering if Gm covers anything with this or if i'm just screwed and will have to buy a replacement myself of smooth it out and just hope it doesn't get to the outside where you can actually see it.

Yep. Any of the salt/winter belt has this issue, both the chrome and the painted/polished aluminum wheels. This is why I have a winter set of wheels/tires and a summer set. I could never imagine running those $$$ 22" wheels year round up here in NY.

As long as you have bumper to bumper still, they should be covered one time replacement.

I also switch to winter wheels, prefer having 4 wheel dedicated snow/ice tires anyway.

Have used the same set of wheels on my last three trucks.

'07 Avalanche wheels '17's, stuck them in blast cabinet, cleaned to bare, zinc primer and coated in ceramic engine paint. this was their second winter and still looking good.

Had to have my chrome clad rims replaced for corrosion also. This is another quality issue. GMC chromed bumpers aren't degrading after road salt exposure, but their chromed wheels do degrade. I can remember when chrome plating was a corrosion inhibitor. Now the plating is so thin that its a waste of money.

I will have to look at mine, I usually don't look at the rims that hard. Would be a good excuse for a second set of rims I guess!
