Just curious, mine was stolen sometime last (typo) week, should've known to lock it down or take it down after my Zone 6.5 lift :(

No big deal, can't use it, just stinks that someone messed with my truck.

Any other victims?

I've heard of spares being stolen from the back of vehicles (like a jeep or SUV) but never from under a truck. I guess I should throw a padlock on mine.

My truck has a lock where you put the stick to unwind the tire, and is the cheapest V8 version, don't your come with that lock too?

And just in case I have a second spare on the bed, under the tonneau cover

Yours didn't have the lock in the bumper?

I honestly don't know lol, mine is a 2016 Silverado Crew Cab V8 LT with trailer package. The only way I knew it was gone was i saw the damn wire hanging down low.

Seriously?

What is your question? I know how to get to my spare, my spare tire cap was not touched and they did not pop the lock, as far as aftermarket locks or if higher trim silverados have better theft prevention then I don't know. I have an LT.

I'm just trying to spread the word here, keep an eye out for your spare, i had my 2014 silverado for almost 3 years with no spare tire theft, now as soon as i lift my truck and draw some attention, my spare got stolen.

Just keep an eye out....Thnx

Was it there when you left the garage who performed the lift?

thought about this too and yes it was, i remember seeing it when i power washed my truck a few weeks after the lift, plus i remember crawling under my truck several times afterwards just to see their work and recall seeing my spare.

Guess some junkie needed a 10 bag and your truck happened to have 6 inches more clearance for a crowbar.

I had a '79 full size Bronco with spare on swing out support at the tail gate. Had a 2006 Jeep Liberty diesel with spare on mount on the back end. All my pickups over the years, I have just kept the spare in the bed with a slip on cover over it for UV protection. Never secured any of them. Never had one taken in 45 years. Guess it does matter on where you live. With all of that, I lived in Aurora, CO (suburb of Denver) for 8 years. Alaska for 10. Hawaii for 2 (had a Chevy pickup there), Georgia for 2, and Kansas for 2, and all the rest in Iowa. Could be just dumb luck. Still don't have spare secured in the bed.
