onecrazyfoo4u Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Which front differential fluid does everyone use? This is for my 05 1500. The manual says 80w-90 fluid, does any brand/type work fine?

newdude Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 75w90 same as the rear. GM had cold weather performance issues with 80w90 so they changed the service recommendation to 75w90 synthetic.
onecrazyfoo4u Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 Oh okay thanks, I'll go with 75w-90 synthetic up front then. The manual doesn't give a capacity, anybody know how much? I imagine 2 qts should be enough...
Gone Again Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Go to Amsoil website. Put in your vehicle info and product choices are listed along with capacities.
Robert Paul Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 I have a 2001 silverado 5.3l I have black front diff seal and vent cap. I have heard that black seal isn't compatible with synthetic oil would it be ok to use a synthetic blend 80w90 I found vavoline durablend a synthetic blend 80w90 sounds like it would be perfect to use since it's just a blend what do you all think? Thanks for the help in advance.
