Shark Fin Questions

Hi All!

 

My 2016 Duramax LTZ has a flat black shark fin and I noticed the High Country model has a color matched shark fin.

I like the looks of the colored one and was wondering about ordering one and switching them out.

Does anyone have knowledge of how they are removed? Are they matched to the truck or is is just an "antenna"

that can be swapped out for a different one?

It's just an antenna. Should the same connectors too. You'll remove the overhead console, remove the sun visor, remove the visor mount and the left handle above the door on the headliner. You should be able to pull the headliner down enough to see it. It's held in place with a 10mm bolt. Remove the bolt, disconnect your connectors and pull it through the top, clean the seal area on the roof and reverse for installation. Before putting it all back together, make sure it doesn't leak water. There's a crushable washer that will come on the new antenna, make sure you use it. Don't reuse the old one, it'll leak.

Just drop the headliner and it's right there, if it leaks afterwards you will have a big mess to deal with.

I'd just vinyl wrap it and call it a day...

I've seen a few of the color matched ones on eBay for cheap.
