TPMS relearn?

Recommended Posts

I just put brand new Denali wheels and tire pulls on my 2014 Silverado. I can get the TPMS into learn but my ATEQ VT5 will not sync the tire. I start at the left front tire at the valve but after I push the tool button nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?

So did you transfer the sensors or were these wheels complete? You just slapped them on?

They were complete from the dealer.

So they were take offs from another vehicle most likely. Wonder if they removed the sensors and transferred them to the other vehicle. You need to verify you have sensors installed in the wheel.

So you physically saw them removed and put on your truck directly from the donor vehicle and they didn't break them down?

I'm thinking the same as some of the others, no sensors or the relearn tool needs new batteries.

Couple possibilities here.

- Was the truck put into relearn mode correctly via the DIC?

- The dealer removed the sensors from the wheels to use on whatever wheels replaced the ones those came off of.

- GM uses two different TPM sensor frequencies on the trucks. They are matched to the following RPO codes. XL7 = 315mHz, and XL8 = 433mHz. You would need to find out the VIN of the truck those wheels came off of originally and check the RPO code with it, or dismount the tire and physically check each sensor.

Spoke to the dealer and he told me that the trigger I was using (ATEQ VT5) was not one they think would work. So sent it back and I have coming tomorrow a EL-50448 which is what they sell that will work. The wheels and tires were pulled off a new Denali. They said they will take care anything if there is any issue with the sensors.

The EL-50448 is the same tool just a different manufacturer/brand name. Note all 3 in the below links:

Well, with me getting the one they say I can toss this back on them if the sensors don't come alive. It was $10 cheaper than the one I sent back. I'll see tomorrow when the new one shows up.

This shouldn't matter but I think the order is supposed to be: RF, RR, LR, LF

LF RF RR LR

That is correct sequence

There are several dealers on Ebay selling the EL-50448. SOME say they won't work on a 2014 Silverado. Anyone know why? I hate to invest in a tool only to find it doesn't work on my truck. Anyone else use this on a stock 2014 Siverado and have it work?

ordered from Amazon and you don't have to worry about investing anything because if it doesn't work you send it back. The dealer that I'm having correspondence with who is the dealer I bought the rims and tires from said that this sensor or trigger will work so who knows
