TPMS relearn?

Couple possibilities here.

- Was the truck put into relearn mode correctly via the DIC?

- The dealer removed the sensors from the wheels to use on whatever wheels replaced the ones those came off of.

- GM uses two different TPM sensor frequencies on the trucks. They are matched to the following RPO codes. XL7 = 315mHz, and XL8 = 433mHz. You would need to find out the VIN of the truck those wheels came off of originally and check the RPO code with it, or dismount the tire and physically check each sensor.

So what's the part number for the TPMS if I have the XL7 code? I came across this on Rockauto but that says manual learn?

For a 2014-2016 that is the correct #. Manual learn just indicates the fact that the system must be re-learned if the tires are rotated, it does not automatically pick up on where each sensor moved to.

Perfect! Thanks. Boy this generation of trucks sure are picky.

and there's no way to re-learn without the tool right? by letting out some air at each tire?

Nope, apparently it has to be done with the tool. The letting out air procedure went away with the last Gen.

There are several dealers on Ebay selling the EL-50448. SOME say they won't work on a 2014 Silverado. Anyone know why? I hate to invest in a tool only to find it doesn't work on my truck. Anyone else use this on a stock 2014 Siverado and have it work?

Because some of them are Chinese knockoffs. The real Kent-Moore tool is orange. Some of the orange ones are still knockoffs and ALL of the blue ones are too.

That's good to know, I would of suckered myself into getting a knockoff

Correct need the tool The air removal procedure stopped after the 2011 model year.

Okay. I stopped by my local Chevy dealer today and they want $39.95 to reset all my sensors....NOT! For that much on a ONE-TIME reset, I think I'll risk it and buy the tool!

When I tried to use my TPMS tool I had trouble getting it to work when pointing it at the wheel/valve stem. Then when I tried holding it against the tire sidewall, above the valve-stem, it finally worked.

Is that normal ?
