Driver side A pillar grab handle

Ahh, that makes sense.  So, how would you connect that to the  new pillar with the handle so the same thing doesn't happen? The new piller doesn't have that extrusion for the clip.   Thanks!

How did you get that tether off? I was a little afraid of pulling to hard and possibly screw up the air bags. For now the original on is back on.  What the heck is that tether for?

I assume it saves the trim piece from becoming a projectile in a serious accident.  The new grab handle is held on by bolts.  I don't know how these will impact airbag deployment but the tether will no longer be needed.  I wouldn't be too concerned if you have to cut the tether.  I cut mine and have no plans to re-install the old trim piece.

@Donstar is exactly right...I didn’t cut mine, just released it from the cover and tucked it out of the way. I have to assume (yeah I know lol) that since there are pre-installed “nut plates” the airbag function is fine, it’s the same way the passenger side is held on.

I was able to unsnap the tether, tuck it away and install the new grab rail pillar!  Thanks for the fast replies. I'm new to this forum and so far it's been great!

I somehow managed to over tighten the top bolt on mine so now it just spins. Cant tighten it down any further and cant remove the bolt so its in there till it gets cut it off I guess. The handle is in nice and secure and the bottom bolt is perfect. Didn't seem like I was over tightening, but apparently I did. I haven't read any other horror stories of others being a moron like myself while installing the handle. Just wanted to share.  ;)

And does anyone know where to find the part numbers for all 6 pillars in the darkest gray color. front pillars w/ handles, middle w/seat belt slide, and rear corners w/seat belt.

It took some work, but it can be done, just be patient.  Took me some time to get it to release.  I tucked in there somewhere, will post a picture of it tucked away whenever I get around to running a "hidden AM/FM antenna."
