If its just temporary, you might be able to make it work. You may find a small gap at corners or where the topper meets the top of the side rails, tailgate, etc. Did your 09 have any side rail caps, or did the topper sit right on the body panels? Any difference in the mounting surface will tell you how well it will sit on your new truck.

 

You could always use a cheap adhesive weatherstrip to seal any small gaps if that happens. I would start by measuring on each truck the inside-inside dimensions of the top of the bed rails , and the front wall - tailgate distance to see how close it really is.

When I was recently searching for a canopy I was told the older canopies are a poor fit. If you are not concerned about brand or color, there are a lot of used 14+ for a good price. If you already have a '09 canopy it would fit a similar truck from '07 - '13. There may be a hunter looking to buy your '09 canopy!

yea, this is definitely the way to go, craigslist is your friend.

you may be able to get one that fits properly for very little cost after you sell yours.
