Switching out mirrors. How hard is it

I have a 2017 1500 denali. Power folding mirrors chrome cap. I would like to switch out to the tow mirrors. Some questions.

1. Will the tow mirrors work just like the current mirrors do. Are there any specific functions that I don't currently have or any that I will loose

2. I assume I need a new harness ?

3. How difficult is this to do myself.

Thanks

Door panels must come off. Harnesses are plug and play. To keep the power folding, you must buy the tow mirrors individually. The ones in the kits do not power fold.

If you are okay with losing power fold and possibly memory mirror, you can do the DPN kits 23372182 (black caps) or 23372181 (chrome caps), and then 84125571 and 84125561 harnesses.

If you want full feature tow mirrors (DQS), you need 84228892 and 84041609 mirrors, and the same two harnesses 84125571 and 84125561. Yes, more $$ for the mirrors but it will keep your power fold and memory.

Also, if your truck is Mexico built (VIN starts with a 3), you will need to drill out the 4th mounting hole for the mirrors. The tow mirrors are 4 mounting studded while the small mirrors are 3, and unless GM has changed this, only trucks built in Flint MI have the 4th hole drilled regardless of mirror.

Contact pgamboa and search these forums. He has TONS of info on mirror swaps and even builds harnesses to make them plug-and-play.

Thanks PM sent to PGMBOA

BTW - I think he posted that he is on vacation for the next week or 2. He is usually very good about responding so don't be worried if you don't hear back from him until he gets back from vacation.
