Tire question - regarding weight

Lol. I changed my brake rotors recently and I have method race wheels with very aggressive Toyo R/T's and I was able to lift the wheel and tire without much issue. The methods weigh 28 lbs and the toyos 75 pounds. Stock wheels and tires are not as light as you think. The goodyear SR/A that are on just about every GM truck weigh 43 pounds each and the LS2 41 pounds. Then add in a stock heavy rim and you are going to be closer to 100 pounds a corner than you think.

I went from the P rated SRA's to an LT 33x12.5R20 E load. I am probably 40lbs per corner (inflated) than i was with those PowerWheels tires. I lost real world 2-3mpg with the 6.2L engine, my friend put the same tire size, but D load on his 5.3L and lost 3-4mpg. His trucks says he is burning 19.5L/100, used to be 15L whereas my truck runs around at 13.5L/100km down to 12 on trips, had it as low as 9.9L/100 on stock tires. Sorry for metric but you get the idea lol. Keep in mind a wider tread is great in soft mud, or dry conditions. Add moisture to that an my 6.2L with those big fat boots slides everywhere, winter, just forget about it.

if your just going up a couple sizes you wont really notice or mind it. going from SRAs to big wide mud terrains you definitely notice but it is fine. I got 71 lbs trail grapplers, 3.42 rear end and it spins them fine, tows just like it did before, and still will roast them off. The heavier tires are just harder on the brakes

What size Grapplers did you get? I put Bilsteins on the front at max setting and wanted to go from the stock SRA's 265/65/18 to a 275/70/18, (33.2") but am worried about power loss. I also have the 3.42 gearing and occasionally haul an 18' travel trailer. My other option is a 285/65/18, (32.6")

275/70/18 will be fine for you thats a 33 that is not terribly wide so you wont be to heavy, you can check the weights of tires on their website.

I went from stockers 20" wheels to fuel maverick 20" and 35x12.5 mud terrains it added about 35lbs per tire. I couldn't tell a difference. mines a 5.3 with 3.08 and 6spd.

truck was slow as hell before, and slow as hell after

I am running LT305s (which are super heavy from what I understand) and I didn't really notice a difference in handling or getup.
