Does any body uses zMAX oils additives.

Watched in youtube Truck U promo for an oil additive called zMAX.

 

Have any one used this product? Any experience? Does it works or it is an "snake oil" cure-it-all?

No need to run additives with today's oils. Use that money for something else, like a better quality oil filter.

I did in my 01 Tahoe 5.2 a couple times. Afterwards, it did seem to respond better and the engine also seemed to perform a little better. It had over 220K miles on it though when I sold it.

The major oil companies are some of the richest, most powerful and aggressive corporations in world. They own multi- million dollar research facilities manned by some of the best chemical engineers money can hire. It is probably safe to say that any one of them has the capabilities and resources at hand in marketing, distribution, advertising, research and product development equal to 20 times that of any of the independent additive companies. It therefore stands to reason that if any of these additive products were actually capable of improving the capabilities of engine lubricants, the major oil companies would have been able to determine that and to find some way to cash in on it. Of all the oil additives, none carry the name or endorsement of any of the major oil producers. The only ones benefiting from these additives are those selling them.

Thank you for your answers. All have a valid point. Discussing car/truck oil is a difficult thing since we are so passionate about our choices.

 

This is my first truck. A 2015 Silverado with a 4.3 V6. Purchased new. Have about 19K imles so far.

I'm using Mobil 1 5W-30 (Advance Full Synthetic motor oil) Dexsos ( I think is dexos 1, not sure) I am changing my oil when the dashboard indicator has a 20% oil change life left...

Any oil better than this? Any suggestions or recommendations?

Probably not that you would ever notice in your ownership of said vehicle...a lot of variables besides oil.

Opinions on oil is like opinions on what is the best food. Mobil 1 is a fine oil. If you really want to deep dive into this topic go checkout www.bobistheoilguy.com peopele will debate what filter is best, what oil change interval is better and which oil is best and frankly it gets tiresome because there is not 100% correct answer and as they say YMMV. Any top shelf brand oil is fine as long as you change your oil based on the OM, you are fine....everything else is pure conjecture.

It is not the goal to make the engine last forever. It is a goal to make it last as long as you plan to own it.

 

If you plan to drive your truck 200,000 miles or less, use the cheapest proper Dexos rated oil you can find. I plan for 200,000 and sell early. I run Walmart purchased Mobil1 @ $25/5qts. I do use a premium filter. I change oil when the OLM comes on. That is plenty early when using a premium filter and M1.

If an additive needs to be added to your oil to make it be better, just buy better oil instead.
